• I suspect that my EML has died on me. "Unfortunately" it's a manual driveversion, which makes it rather difficult to find as a used part.

But does anyone know if it is correct that the hardware should be the same from an automatic drive version, E31 or E32, and that it is the EPROM that makes the difference?

My EML is a Bosch 0 205 000 004 (BMW 1729745), but is Bosch 0 205 000 015 and / or 0 205 000 005 actual the same, apart from the EPROM, and can be used if the EPROM is switched?

    This can befound more easily.

    0 205 000015 come with BMW no like 1733598 / 599 / 600 / 601
    0 205 000 005: 1725387 / 388 / 389

    Help/ comments highly appreciated

The Eprom can be made / programmed it might be a dead Eprom on your board in fact
I do have the EML files stored for manual M70 , and I have an Eprom burner so you could start there :)

    What model is your car?

  • Hi Terje

It would be nice if that was the case, and could be solved like that.
I would appreciate you help very much with this.

    The car is a 850Ci (M70),European, Manual, production November 1991 (VIN CB14125)

    The chip also has a label with number: 2 287 357 436.

    Best regards,
    Bo

I assume with production date November your car is classified as 92mod
Will make you a chip for EML 92 manual , not sure hove much of a difference there are in these , might not be any
But cant do it before next week as I go away for the weekend and today is packed with things to do :)

  • Thanks, I also considered that, but for now ended up with buying a used 0 205 000 015 and just replacing the Eprom with the one from my defect 0 205 000 004 - seem to be working just fine, I do not notice any difference in driving characteristics.

But are still considering maybe to look into a repair to have it as a spare, as you mention it could be it is just some of the electrolytic capacitors has dried out.
