I have kept the original exhaust on my '98 840 Ci Sport (Auto) but I have had the cats replaced with free flowing items with little or no back pressure! Sound is as standard but big improvement in performance.

My car is a '98 840 Ci Sport (Auto). Last year I had Kevin Bird suppy and fit a Quaif LSD. He has just fitted a 3.45 : 1 final drive and the result is excellent. The car is showing 90 mph at 3,000 rpm.

    Hi Wayne

Interesting your comment on the rubbing. I too have the 18" Alpinas on my car - 9" wide at the front (245/40) and 10 1/2" (285/35) at the rear and I have rubbing sometimes - only on the mud guard so no big deal.

However, I will make a note of your change to 265/35 for my next tyre change.

Incidentally I use Michelin Pilot Sport.

    Hi Guys

I have had an E46 M3 SMG wheel fitted and the paddles connected and it is great! The wheel feels good and of course the paddle shift is excellent.

I had the various switches on the E46 wheel removed and the "T" piece trimmed in black leather.

However, it is a bit of a nightmare to fit! Mine was done by Michael Fernando at CA Automotive and I understand that Birds also do it.

    Definately worth the effort though!

    Love that concept car!

I don't like the rear bumper (I have a '98 840 Ci Sport). The lower part seems like an afterthought and just "stuck on". Later this year I am thinking about the Zeemax rear bumper which I think is a lot better - I am happy with my car's front bumper and side skirts though and don't like the Zeemax versions.

Also front PDC would be good with the long nose. I have the rear PDC although because the sensors were designed over 10 years ago they are quite large. When I get some time for some research I was thinking of buying a front and rear PDC kit for something like the current 1 or 3 series and fitting it. I am thinking of these models because unless you have Sat Nav then you don't get the iDrive and screen and so the kit would be designed to be audible only (possibly). The modern sensors that fit flush would not change the look of the car.

    Hi Jason

Fantastic news! I am still adjusting the airbag cover because this is of course just a close fit and with the addition of leather I need to adjust it.

I will let you know how I get on.

As for the prize - how about I buy you a bear when we (hopefully) meet up to hand over the diff?

    Thanks again
    Steve

    Mail received and replied.

Jason, please email and we can discuss shipping costs. I can arrange diff (for you) and the gears for me to be shipped from the States to me in the UK. I can then arrange to ship the diff to you - if that helps?

    Thanks
    Steve

Please advise which State you are in and approximate weight for the 3.45 set and I can get a freight cost. Please also advise how much you are looking for and then we can do a deal.

    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi mate
Below some info on the standard diff and some options that I got from Kevin Bird. Kevin has done a 3.45 before and says that it works well.
    Cheers

    Dear All

About 3 months ago I removed the dashboard to have it trimmed in leather. I have just finished refitting it but I have a small bracket left over! I really can not remember where it goes.

It is about 37 mm x 75 mm and has a black rubber stop and so I assume that it has something to do with the glovebox.

I would be really grateful if someone could let me know where it goes - a picture would be great.

    Photo attached.

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

Last year I contacted Quaife regarding a LSD for my 1998 840. They directed me to Kevin Bird at Birds Garage in Uxbridge who are the sole UK distributors. Birds supplied and fitted a Quaife LSD and will be having the car again soon to supply and fit a new crown wheel and pinion to revise the final drive ratio - as well as a few further revisions to the car!

I have found Birds excellent and so if you have any queries I suggest you give Kevin a call.

    Steve

Suggest contact Pete Collen at AP Racing in Coventry. A couple of years ago he designed front and rear upgrade for my 840. Bigger AP Racing discs front and rear with 4 pot calipers at rear and six pot at front. Also changed to braded hoses and DOT5 fluid.

I am sure that this upgrade is now available as a "kit".

    Big improvement!

    Bulb failure

Sorry if this has been covered before but does anyone know how to disable the bulb failure warning messages? With HID and LEDs I'm not concerned about bulb failures and the alternative is loads of resistors (and heat).

If this function could be turned off that would be great.

    Thanks

Can anyone suggest the best source for LED's to replace the standard brake light, tail light, indicator, side light bulbs? Also how to fit resistors etc to fool the OBC?
    Thanks
