I take it back! The dials are correct. My mistake.

I don't think it's a CSI. Body kit looks non-standard, air intakes are from a standard 850; speedo dials are not CSI either.

Sorry to hear your unfortunate news.
I would reccdommend getting an independent quote for the repair from whoever you use to maintain your car. It's your car, so I think it's up to you where you have it repaired. The insurance will no doubt take it to BMW where the parts and labour bill would be astronomical. A new Mtech nose, plus all the numerous bits of trim that always fly out of the front on impact are pretty expensive.
I had a small prang a couple of years ago and my insurance company had no problem with me taking the car to the garage of my choice. Doing this waived my entitlement to a courtesy car and I was responsible for delivery and collection of the vehicle.

Toyo proxes T1 are still available in this size. Also, Hancook Ventus S1 around. Not sure if they are still being made, but still in stock at a few places. Was trying to get some a couple of months ago. Ended up getting old Michelins from ebay. Just check description to ensure no puncture repairs.

erm... don't know if these are also photoshopped but here's an alternative top 5.
8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/26538/ 5. ferrari yellow. Never owned a yellow car but this I like.
8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/26540/ 4. orient blue. This was the colour I originally wanted.
8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/26539/ 3. volcano grey. I did like fjord grey but I prefer this. (Isn't orinoco a shade of green?)
8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/26541/ 2. I think this is called santorin.
8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/26542/ 1. laguna green. This looks good to me in the UK. Maybe one day I'll get it to LA for some of that filtering effect.
Thanks for your post BB. Having looked on 8coupe registry I didn't realise how many colours the 8 came in. More than 100. Some beautiful, some not so.

Thats gone straight in at No 4 on my E31 Colours Chart[/QUOTE]
Can you give us a top of the pops style run down of your top 10 colours?

can't help too much with the centre vent as i didn't use the alpina one. once you remove the accoustic matting from the bonnet you'll see that the pointy end of the NACA duct need to placed directly behind the central section of the bonnet frame. Any further back and you won't be able to duct it into the fuel rails. i used a 200mm duct. i think alpina's is more like 300mm.
a word of warning i read on this site. don't weld anything to the bonnet as it will distort. i've never used a welder so i can't validate this. i glued a frame to the underside of the bonnet and glued the vents to that.
stevep840 and i both started vented bonnets at the same time (around february). we both used the above method and didn't weld the vents.
the photo from the underside shows that the vent follows the frame on the outside and the front of the bonnet.

If you click the link below you'll find everything you need to know. This was sent to me by REVTOR when I asked a similar question

The requirement for self-levelling and headlight washers has been temporarily rescinded or delayed. I have not heard of any after-market Xenon's being failed yet in the UK.
I've checked with my local mot station and they say the same thing. no problem with HIDs. having seen a car halfway through a conversion, ie one light hid and one light still halogen, the difference in output is huge. the white light also modernises the looks too.

Since you've had the manifolds off, check that you have refitted the earth straps under the bonnet to the engine.
8Tech.
I checked for continuity between the throttle bodies and the main earth earlier today and got nothing (open circuit). I tested another 8 series and got continuity from one bank, but not the other, which i thought was odd. I don't remember taking any earth straps off, but it was several months ago. Where exactly are the earth straps?

I'm not getting any voltage to the feed side of the relays. checked the fusable links and that ok. any suggestions welcome!!!
-
thanks guys. it does look good (imo). just struggling to get it started after 7 months off road. don't seem to be getting any voltage to the throttle bodies (they should hum/buzz when ignition at stage 2, right?). any ideas? tested the relay and tried another throttle body.

I've always thought gold and silver together just don't work together. Maybe you should try painting the whole wheel gold. I have to agree with Gerry about the sidelights.
-
pictures havn't come out in the right order (bloody computers).
Also, forgot to say thanks to Dan at Chris Burton Cars for putting the colour and lacquer on the engine parts. Thanks Dan!!

After reading a few posts about banjo bolts i decided to have a go at wire locking them. (many thanks to gerry for the workshop demonstration on wire locking, plus the loan of tools). I also wanted to clean up the rocker covers and plenums and get rid of any rust and that horrible gold varnish.
Whilst at Gerry's i was given a tour of his engine bay and subsequently decided to go a bit over the top with the clean up.

totally agree about the roof. gives it a much more modern look. it's definitely going on my to-do list.

i don't know if this helps steve. i cut the vents out first and deliberated over the naca duct. in the end i went for it and thought it looked much better with it in. 2 people who saw me cut it out agreed; though i doubt they'd tell me i'd just made a big mistake! i went for a smaller duct than alpina. only 200mm. i think alpina duct is closer to 300mm. lots of choice available for width and length as well as shape. i think you should go for it. just have a good look at the options avaiable.
-
must be the angle the original picture was taken at. if it's any help to you i butted the duct up to the central frame. the cut was approx 30mm above that.
