Nogie I think you are correct and if my memory serves me right the o2 sensors are in front of the cats - I cannot test this as iam away from the car right now but will try to remember to look when I get back.
I have not noticed any change in the cars performance torque or otherwise - but the reasons why sound mechanically feasable

Hi Graham, I belive that for optimised running the car needs to know if it has cats or not I will check that with my mechanic.
with regards to the sensors they will always be hot from the exhaust gasses anyway.
I have ben running the car this way for nearly two years now and BMW exhaust keeps the car origional - also they provided the infills which removing the cats exposed. my MPH on a good journey is arround 22-23 -

Quite right Angus - I will make the effort - but as I have been away for a good long period this time, I know my time is going to be placed under pressure But I will do my best

I was a member of the BMW Forum but found that it is full of 3's and 5's with the occasional look at 7's and 6's - nothing regarding the 8 so i am not a member any more - which is a shame as i am back in the UK over that weekend and would'nt mind bringing the car to meet everyone with her new roof -(Angus has seen it) I havn't yet
-
Pics of my new roof skin being done - will post pics of the completed job soon
-
Angus as you know I have just had a new roof skin on mine so I would say use the body shop next to Phil's garage - hope this is not too late

Sorry gents but work as usual has gotten in the way - update as there was no definable reason for the steering issue we went back to basics - Jerry is right about the strut barings and we went back and looked at the seating - secondly we also looked at the pump and seals as it was noticed the fluid was dripping all be it in very small quantities.
We replaced the pump and seals and so far there has been no issue with the steering and i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problem has been fixed. -
Hi Jack sorry been away no I won't be going to the meet but still working on the 850 so I don't think she will be ready for Gaydon either and it looks like I will be away on bussiness anyway.
Still hopeing that you will nail this bloke in court what a complete clown -
I think I got 83lts in mine and have a photo of the fuel consumption on the motorway of 23.6mpg 8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/9579/ anyone got any more from a v12?
-
Ben she looks a corckergot a lot of that to do with mine so would be interested to know what you used etc
-
Tony just come across your news - really sorry to hear of your misfortune, but releved that you are ok and your car is not to damaged.
I would have liked to see you at Gaydon this year but unfortunately all my plans have been changed due to a work commitment.
But have a good day iam sure you will make it -
Col Jack,
I am sorry to read your account of the disgracefull behaviour of your mechanic.
I can only say that I have replaced my BMW shocks on my 850 with bilstien sports at each corner, they have given my car a new lease of life, I only have completed 2,000 mile from replacement and all is well.
Good luck with the case

Interesting comments but forget the E60 M5 go for the E60 550 - Perhaps not a quick but the 4.8 v8 will get it moving - not bad price with a couple of years old still get all the kit and toys.
Got the 4.4 v8 540 and she picks up very nicely and I will change sometime this year for the 50
