Thanks chaps. I have a euro car parts very close to work so I'll check it out at lunchtime (assuming they're open today). 8Tech - I'll go for a set of leads from you, let me know how much to pay you. Cheers, Nick

Chaps, did you get the caps/rotors from BMW? They look pricey on realoem etc....? I bought used HT leads from eBay as they were an absolute fortune OEM, can you get aftermarket leads? You're probably all feeling sorry for me and thinking of sending me a food parcel for xmas :grin2:

Paul, i'm in a similar position but i'm doing so few miles that I won't need them for a couple of years and they're making my wife angry sitting in the garage :help: so I think i'm best off selling. £600 would do the trick.

    For the UK guys...
I have a set of 4 Michelin PS2s (275/35/18 and 245/40/18 ) sitting in my garage and feeling unloved. They have been fitted once and covered less than 50 miles in which time one of the rears picked up a screw puncture that has been repaired (yes, I was very annoyed). It's a long, boring story why I have them but there's nothing wrong with them (except the repair), if someone wants to make me an offer feel free. They fit my current wheels (e39 M5) so I'll hold onto them unless someone wants them.

    Vish,

My guess is you need hub centric rings. I put e39 M5 wheels on my 850 and got a terrible 50mph shake, put the rings on and it went away completely - good news is they are around £15 on ebay. You'll need to measure the hub diameter on those wheels to see if you need rings and what size.

I ended up booking my car into Autobahn services. Gary was very helpful and had my car for over a week. He's not cheap (over £70 per hour) but he knows what he's doing and did a great job. Thanks for the tip.

It won't be the discs, the sensor is faulty. This happened to me, i shorted the sensor wires which turns the warning off, change the sensor next time you change your pads. Literally chop the two wires that run to the sensor and join them together. Works a treat!

I'm assuming the amp is dead, but before i buy a new one are there any diagnostics I can do? Or any common problems to look for?

Chaps, when i bought my car it had a truly horrid JVC CD headunit and only two of the 12 speakers worked. I replaced the headunit with an OEM unit and noticed that the JVC unit was wired directly to the front two speakers. I got rid of that and hooked up the original wiring. I then noticed that the wires into the amp in the boot had all been shorted out. The wires go into the amp in two blocks, black and white. All the wires had been cut and been shorted, so a wire that would have gone into the black block was attached to a wire that would have gone into the white block (hope this makes sense?). Anyway..... I repaired all of the wires and hooked them back up to the amp, now I have virtually no volume. When the unit is flat out i can just about hear it but it's close to inaudible. Does this mean my amp is dead? maybe this is why the previous owner butchered the wiring? I've seen a couple of amps on ebay.de for around €80 should i do that or is there a better aftermarket option? Any help appreciated as no sounds is painful..... Nick

Hello, does anyone know of decent indy in Herts for my 91 850i? I'm in St Albans. The places I've used have been terrible. One "BMW Specialist" told me that my brakes were "scary" but he thought it was my disks, turned out it was my brake bomb but he had no idea - almost killed me. I do a lot of work myself (badly normally) but I need the lower oil pan gasket changing urgently and I haven't got the time or the facilities to do work under the car (my wife will get emotional if i make a mess of the drive  ). Any help appreciated. Nick
