OK
Fuel Lines.
After reviewing information, I do not recommend using silicone/Fluorosilicone fuel lines.
The fuel hoses in the car have a variety of inner bore diameters. Some are 5mm and most are 8mm.I recommend using the original type of Nitrile Rubber (NBR) hose either from a BMW dealer or from another supplier. The hose must be of the re-inforced type suitable for up to 12 bar pressures. (Actual working pressure 3-4bar)
The existing (fuel) hose clips on the car are designed not to be re-usable. You will therefore need to buy at least 20 new clips to do all the hoses. the best type are those supplied by BMW, as they are made of Stainless Steel and are of a good design. If you are not sure of what hose to use, I would also buy a "kit" of all the hoses from BMW (dealer/parts).
example:
http://www.kiowa.co.uk/Product…Automotive_Fuel_Hose_BSAUWiring
as highlighted in Gerry's post, the cable from the alternator to the battery-distribution terminal under the bonnet is liable to fail from long-term exposure to heat.
Gerry recommended replacing this cable with a cable that has silicone insulation. This is a good recommendation. However, anly cable with isulation that has good thermal resitance would be OK. It may also be possible to use the original type cable material with an added glass-fibre sleeve.
Thx, You are the man. Now I understand everything. The kit, do you know how much it cost. Arent the hoses all the same in the e31? I am going next week to Poland to check on my baby, and I just want to know everything I need to know.

Ok you guys. You seam to know all this, but could you write it like for a 8 year old(Watched the office yesterday) I am just so confused what to buy. Hard for me to explain from english to some Polish shopworkers. I need to know this myself, because I dont want to mess anything up.

First They are fibreglass
Second They are less than 1/2 the Bmw cost
So you would recommend that I should aim for them? Any link to an ad?

I've done a temporary fix, but will order new clips from BMW and replace the hose with this one:
http://www.hoseworld.com/acata…Petrol_Chemical_Hose.html(Higher temperature and pressure rating)
"....Black smooth fluorosilicone rubber tube with blue smooth silicone rubber cover.
Nomex reinforcement. Temperature range -80 to 180°C.
Use with leaded and unleaded petrol, methanol and also biodiesel..."How wide do I need?
-
How are those replicas?
-
Is it hard to get to this cable? The new cable isnt in rubber, so wont it be dangerous?
-
Hi there. I am looking for the CSI front spoiler. Where and how much. Any place where I can get it cheaper?
-
Thats just pure hot.

So you say I should go straigt for the synthetic. Can you write up the process?
-
I have been thinking about this. Should I change from mineral to synthetic and is it possible? I need some help here, because I want my car to stay healthy
-
I have been searching and I cannt find a oild from mobile1 or castrol that is mineral. Have they stopped producing them?

Mineral oil is fine, you just have to change more frequent due to higher carbon deposits when the oil is heated/burned under use.
If you use mineral oil, never drive more than 10.000km between every change.
Mine run on synthetic Castrol TWS I think, 5w-30, change it every 8000km.
0w oil is too thin, you are allmost guaranteed to have little spotts of oil under your car all the time.
I used 10w-60 on my old track car, but that is classified as race oil, and is overkill on a daily driver.
However if your car use oil, try a 10W oil, 10W synthetic is hard to come by, and expencive.
I wil use 5W-30 Castrol on my car, even when supercharged.
But if I see signs of trouble I will use the race type 10W-60.
Another misconseption i that black dirty oil coming out of your engine is bad.
Actually it just does wht it is supposed to, clean all the crap out of the engine while lubricating it.
Using cleaning additives just before an oil change is a good thing.
I will do this to my car this time.
As long as you change frequent, I see no problem in using 5w or 10w mineral oil.So what do you recommend for me. What brand of mineral oil?
-
The story about the engine is that it has about 180.000 km on the clock. It has been run on mineral the whole time. Is there a chance for me to put synthetic on it?

If you mean the seat-back release lever...try this....
1) BEFORE pulling up the seat-release lever, try pushing the seat rearwards with your other hand.
2) Then with that pressure still on, PULL UP the seat release lever.
3) That might allow the catch to release.
Good luck.Rearwards you mean to the rear seats?
-
I now, but when I bought the car the owner said that the car has been always run on mineral oil.
-
I have a problem with my drivers seat. The handle is stuck and i cannt move the seat. Do you think its the same problem?

Located under the water screen bottle, this pump has seals which perish, you will need to remove and replace the pump - I don't know if there is a repair kit? does anyone know of one?
I think that the hose leaks, and the pump is fine. Do you have a picture of this and also where I can add sume steeringfluid. Sorry for all those dump questions, but i am so new to all this.
