hi, right will try that option...any ideas which part number it is?
thanks for the help! -
avery nice merc there! detailed one of these the other week funnily enough! much much prefer the black edition mercs though with the flared arches etc etc. My pick (if i had an insane amount of cash) would be the CLK variant.
im certain he'll be pleased with it!! thanks for sharing!

hi guys! still have my 8!! decided (after a couple of timewasters!) to keep her.
so ive been spending a little more on her now...steering wheel retrimmed..speant an afternoon on the front lower bumper filling in tiny stone chips etc etc.
the next thing to be done is the steering...theres a degree or so of dead movement so im thinking its the gears in the steering box...so new steering box? or does anyone refurbish these?? the steering box etc as been checked over and the mech is certain the steering box is at fault here...apparently there should be a small bolt or something to take up some of the slack but mine is 'missing' apparently ...any ideas on prices???
-
UH OH!! thats nasty!! good couple of thousand to repair that...panels might be able to be re-beaten but replacement grill etc etc could be a nightmare....
thoughts go out to the owner!
-
Hi Wokke!
how are your refurbs doing?? mine are still as good as the day i did them!
-
lloyd you lucky bu99er!!
i have 3 on my license steve... but you only have to do 1 or 2 trips to an area you dont know these days and lose your license!
it was on a stretch of dual carriage in the middle of nowhere on the A616 (Specs cameras)...which must be one of the most unpopulated A-roads in the country!!!
plus it was his idea to take that road back from manchester as i wanted to go M62 / M1
looks like im taking the hit on the fine as hes not offered to take the fine or the points.
slightly pee'd off!!!!!
-
hi guys, just had a speeding fine SP60 (i was doing 70 in a 60 on a motorway) does anyone know a) how many points this will incur...and b) what the fine will be?
pretty certain that it was a temporary speed limit so not sure if its a fine and points or just a fine.
....helping a colleague to find a car....

wheels should be easy enough....throwing stars without the "stars"
-
good find there tony...but not for me either...plus the sheer expanse of wet-lay carbon would soon succumb to stonechips and rash over a british winter
-
...not sure why your getting the earbashing mate? it would have gone with anyone driving it??? i suppose as you were on your way upto gaydon but surely thats besides the fact?
i take it internal engine damage occured when the belt went to accrue such a bill? either that or its got an animal on its logo somewhere...
-
good luck with the sale Wayne!
sure it wont hang around for long.
Im now in two minds about selling mine...partly due to paying off some nasty debt and missing out on the monaro VXR i wanted...
...and overhauling the suspension on the old girl which set me back a fair few beer tokens...feels so so so much better to drive now tho. A different car to the one i originally purchased!
-
where can you get 18" reps from??? saw a black alpina B3 at sytners last week with dark grey alp wheels on which looked the absolute t*ts!
neeeeeeed the deeper rear dish that the E31 was furnished with tho...
-
right guys...the BBS are proving difficult to find...so im now looking at some alpinas in 18" which i will refurb and paint a dark grey
so if anyones got some lying around....

Very nice car;-)
...wouldnt be your new purchase would it steve? nice example that...altho the colour is in frequent circulation...;-)
-
hi tony...yes i have noticed the same...maybe 8er collectors are rearing their heads from over their Times supplements or our beloved series is developing a stronger "cult" following as certain other cars have - NSX... XKR 4.2 (Prev model)... etc etc.
It can only be a good thing...keeps them out of breakers yards and the neon-light fraternity.

I'm told that the Alpina tuned M62 engine would be a pretty easy swap, but getting the Ecu from the Alpina to configure the 8's systems may be something else
mmm...someone should setup shop providing re-worked ECU's & Looms for engine transplants...as its mostly electric issues that hinder people from block-swap.
upgrading the brake system / suspension setup / steering dynamics / diff gearing / and 'box would cost a pretty penny too...
so best stick with your idea mate...mine would be frightfully expensive!!!!
-
well done steve on the sale! new owner will be very happy with that one!
if i had a choice on block transplant it would be the new E92 M3 V8 with a Milltek full system.
-
hi mattsimis,
very nice looking CSI you have there!
from what youve said doesnt seem like too many problems with it altho dont be afraid of getting the cheque-book out!
ive had the same problem with the seat not folding forward...mine was a broken cable although most younger cars suffer from the actual chrome catch breaking...search for this issue...there is a write-up on how to fix the catch somewhere.
not sure about your water tank issue but drilling a hole in it doesnt sound clever...maybe it requires vacuum and so in doing so the system fails? air block?
re engine sound, it looks like you may have aftermarket rear silencers on her...the original exits where square i think?
key fobs...sounds like youve tried some options here...some V12 owners may have experience of your problems...otherwise call out a mobile key specialist or an automotive electrician - theyre normally pretty good.
re the idling "dip" it could simply be the AC fan cutting on and off...its pretty warm at the mo so i wouldnt be suprised...somethings abviously drawing power and its most likely the AC system.
8tech is the man to speak too...

youd be nuts to buy that...people often buy an M3...put an M3 plate on only to move up through the "M-ranks" 5-6 series all carrying the private M3 plate and looking like a proper tw*t in the process because buyers rarely want to pay a premium for the reg come sale time.
