2005 BMW 8 Series Inventory Project

Please take a moment and familiarize yourself with the 2005 BMW 8 Series Inventory Project from these various posts:
    http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e31/6082652-1.html
    http://www.8-fest.com/about/news_detail.cfm?NewsID=86

And of course a thread you and I both participated in:
    http://www.clube31.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1747

Euro LHD M60 840CiA (1993-94) are still in the inventorying progress (about 62% completed). What you're asking for will be available later this year. M60 840CiA's are in the pipeline for completion this summer. At the moment, you can preview some of the information completed at:
    http://www.8coupe.com/color.htm

If you would like a build sheet for your car, then register you and your car in the E31 Registry via 8Coupe.com or 8-Fest.com (both share the same database) ---and then send me an email offline via the ""contact" pages at 8-Fest/8Coupe.com.

The long-range plan is to have the information you're asking for available via new 8Coupe.com website in early 2006 when the inventory project is completed. As of today, 45% of the worldwide 8's are cataloged, including all -
    - North American 8's
    - M73 850Ci's Worldwide
    - M60/M62 6spd Euro
    - 850CSi's Worldwide
    - Platinum Editions
    - Japan Individuals
    - ...and many many more.

    Thanks for the question!

    Cheers,

    Live in Japan?

    Scourge;

Thank you for your thoughtful answer.

First, I was unaware that you lived in Japan. In looking at your profile,
    http://www.clube31.net/forum/p…hp?mode=viewprofile&u=932
your location is not listed. In fact, there's NO information about you! (hint hint) Please update your profile so we may respect your location!

Secondly, had I known you lived in Japan, I certainly would have answered your question appropriately. There were no 850i/Ci 6spd's officially imported to Japan....only 850i/Ci automatics...and they number less than 10 or so (still working through the M70 850i/Ci's outside North America). Over 298 BMW "Japan" Individual LHD 840Ci's were sent to Japan from 1996-99...and are very collectable. It would be a shame to shove a V12 in these special cars. ~311 8er's in total were sent to Japan.

Lastly, you may want to consider importing a RHD 850i/Ci 6spd from either Great Britain or Australia. Only 98 were built including one that was recently on eBay:

Now about Dinan Twin Turbo's and other custom jobs. See this link:

Unless you have unlimited money to spend, you're out of luck. Terry is right on with his sage comments.

Why not get a BMW 840Ci Japan Individual?

Why not just buy an 850i/Ci?

May I suggest rather than go through the brain damage of converting a V8 840Ci, why not just go out and buy an 850i/Ci that already has the V12 in it?

    Been there, done that

...many of us have made a pesonal appeal for takeover of this site.

Philippe has not even acknowledged or responded to our requests. In fact, I'm not very happy for Philippe not responding to any of my emails since last August. Unacceptable.

Since 29 Jan 2005, Philippe has been online making some additional repairs that I no longer had time to work on (e.g. the home page menu and the galleries...even though the pix are still needing repair).

We've given Philippe the benefit of the doubt in the past...but increasingly his lack of communication is becoming very troublesome.

In addition, Ralf Pusch of ClubE31.de has shared that BMW Mobile Tradition will soon annoint his website some sort of special status for the 8er community and that he plans to upgrade his site to welcome more participants from English-speaking countries.

I support M Rad's efforts; I'm not sure Philippe will listen or care.

    Status: 27 December 2004

Everything has been restored with the exception of these areas remaining off line:
    - Galleries
    - New Registrations

Because of other time commitments, I will be unable to troubleshoot anymore fixes at this time.

Philippe will resume his management and oversight of this site in January 2005 including announcements regarding the future of this site.

    Background
This site was crippled by a hacker worm on Monday 20 December 2004. The worm destroyed all the htm, html, and php files and placed "defaced messages" all over ClubE31.Net. The good news is that the databases supporting this site were unaffected.

Fortunately, we backed up the entire website 22 November 2004 after it returned online following a week's absence due to an administration problem.

Philippe had nothing to do with 8-Fest

What? Philippe had something to do with 8-Fest.Com? Are you kidding? Is this revisionist history in the making? I think it's the other way around.

Although I think Philippe is a good guy, I'm beyond belief that you think Philippe's influence is more than it is. Yes, Philippe worked hard on ClubE31.Net. Yes he assisted Ralf on ClubE31.De. However, Philippe had absolutely NO INVOLVEMENT in the making of 8-Fest.Com or any other E31 site that's out there today.

Therefore, let's get the facts straight:
    - http://www.8-fest.com was born without Philippe's help or suggestion
    - http://www.clube31.net was re-born with my personal assistance last year (this included my financial help and time)
    - I am supporting (or limping) ClubE31.net as best as I can
    - There are software problems in the site I'm unable to troubleshoot
    - A growing movement within the E31 community is working towards either migrating or taking over/fixing this site

Whatever Philippe's personal issues are, I'm sure they're terrible or he would be here working on this site. I have faith in Philippe. To that, I think there's some agreement.

...well there is another idea in the works

There is an effort among us to start another E31 board.

I can't say much more right now...but what I can say is that there will be an alternative.

Philippe is a good guy. His lack of communication/dedication to the site is sad news.

    Keeping the board operating....

For what it is worth, I've been quietly maintaining the board as best as I can from behind the scenes.

Some of the problems people are having are beyond my reach (e.g. pix problems, content additons,etc.).

Until Philippe surfaces, I'll continue to help wherever/however I can.
