There you go Lloyd.....all you need is a good negotiator..........

Jud, has that list been updated in the last 6 months?
I guess I was out by one or two cars then :winkwink:

That list is THE list. There were many mistakes with the original list that's been floating around.

This is believed to be D200054, number 54.

However, there is some private debate about this car within the 8er community.

Kees, the Alpina Registry Agent, and myself believe it to be Nbr 54 based on many pieces of evidence. However, there is an opinion out there that this car's equipment is slightly off what should be for this vehicle.

    http://www.alpina-archive.com/?p=1572

The last time this car was for sale, 12/2007, it sold within 3 days. There are several private conversations in progress about this vehicle. Attached is the listing from 12/2007. Please do not re-publish this listing in other forums as 8er.org is a private forum and these documents are for your use, not to be re-published at other forums.

P.S. Koenig Dave - please avoid cross-posting at Bimmerforums about this vehicle being discussed at 8er.org until more information is made available and verified. Thank you in advance.

    Judd, is this for real?

    Who's Judd?

Is that someone else you're referring to?

(hint: you and I have talked about this before)

    Yes, this car is legit.

For everyone else --- a gentle reminder: avoid asking/paging me to comment on a car in a public/private forum. I'm seldom online anymore because of outside commitments. If you want to know something about a car, contact us at the Registry with the URL link to the ad for assistance:

    Happy New Year!

Controversy surrounds Synter conversions and the continuous religious claims that they are true Alpinas.

Synter did do some Alpina conversions from 1991 to 1992, but halted them (this is a long story). They do not have the complete Alpina package/treatment.

Simply put, they are not true Alpinas, do not have the unique Vehicle Identification Numbers, etc. They may have the Alpina B12 5.0 tuned engine and other mechanical bits, but that's about all there is to them. They are ordinary M70 cars with some upgrades.

Yes, there is an Alpina plate with this car: 9430. The plate is out of sequence for the 1 of 97 classifications that Alpina has assigned true B12 5.0 coupes. The number 9430 may be a point of showing authenticity of materials used to make this a clone B12 5.0.

This particular car was discussed several years ago here:
    http://www.8er.org/forum/showpost.php?p=29175&postcount=7
The Registry archives are rich in details on this car and we're constantly asked about it.

In summary, this car is recorded in the BMW 8 Series Registry and the Alpina Registry as a unique car, but it's pedigree is in serious question. Want a true B12? Make sure it was built in Buchloe and it has the proper credentials. That will greatly contribute to its long term valuation. All Synter conversions tracked by the Registry for sales since 2003 show a sales price more similar to a well kept standard base 850i.

Correct me if I am wrong but this car doesn't look like Estoril blue?

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1301761.htm

Quite a few 8ers still popping up for sale which is surprising as there are so few on the road.

Yes, it is Estoril Blue. Lousy color pictures.

Was on Ebay about 2 weeks back -- auction "ended" a couple of days prior to scheduled close. I think last legitimate bid was £7100.

The auction was closed because the car was "supposedly" sold.

You can see the auction here:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI…iewItem&item=300320978200

Yes, the last bid was £7100 (click on bids even though it says "0", you can see what they were before the auction was pulled)

With a dealer now selling the car, it's anticpated that one of three things happened:

    • The car was sold to a dealer
    • The owner traded the car in for another car; this dealer ended up with it
    • The owner is having this dealer try to sell it for him on consignment

Did a search and found nothing.

    Hello Matt;

This vehicle is a bonafide CSi in FJORDGRAU METALLIC (310). This car is often confused with this other car, chassis CC88030, previously discussed in this forum here:
    http://www.8er.org/forum/showt…?t=6338&highlight=CC88030

    This vehicle is CC88029.

If you want more information, then please contact me via the contacts page here:

Thank you for thinking of the Salvage Registry. We are always on the lookout for tracking any 8er.

Another UK-based 8er owner got me the VINs for both cars a couple of weeks ago.

    Prod date: 15-Apr-94
    Exterior: ORIENTBLAU METALLIC (317)
    Upholstery: LEDER NAPPA/SILBERGRAU HELL (0497/N4SH)

This is a common colour combination for the 850CSi. This particular vehicle was duplicated several times for the UK market with the same colours and equipment. There are a few UK people interested in the car and contacted the Registry.

The story Dave shared is correct about this vehicle.

In continuing the recurring theme of sharing information about rare 8's, here's one that just appeared for sale that has a one-off colour combination configuration:
    Chassis: CB72937
    Build Date: 7-Dec-90
    Exterior Colour: STERLINGSILBER METALLIC (244)
    Upholstery: LEDER NAPPA/PERGAMENT (0356/M5PE)

    More info and pictures here:

There were two M70 850iA's in this colour combo:
    - this vehicle, a 1991 LHD M70 850iA; and
    - a 1991 RHD M70 850iA delivered to the UK

In the early 8er production years, there were instances where customers wanted different standard exterior colours combined with different standard upholstery colours. For the North American market, BMW North America put together the standard exterior/interior colour combinations in their marketing materials. For example, a standard colour combo was Schwarz (086) with Schwarz Leather (0226/M4SW). Sterling Silver was not available with Parchment upholstery, however both were standard offerings. The original owner of this car wanted to have a different colour combination than what was offered, but it was within standard offerings, so all that had to be done was to match that up and fine-tune the BMW ordering process.
