Have startet the winter project.
Goal real clean up of engine and getting rid of all yellow wax.
Polishing of bolts and pipes , replacing distributor cap's and spark plug leads and anything else showing up.
Distributor cap's are still the original ones ( hard wax all over the cap )
Guess it's time to change these.
Can't understand she has been running fine with this one?????
More pictures to come when work progress

Very interesting if this Harman kardon can be used in my CSI
Just browsing the parts list for CSI and seems like they whent from
65 12 8 354 444
to
65 12 8 362 438
Directly
Will have a look at mine when I get home to see if it can be swapped out with a "better one"
This is what parts list shows for a late prodused 93 CSI

Hi,
how did you remove the debris from the old ribbon on the LCD panel? It looked to me very tuff - and I did it in warm temperature?
On the board side it was tuff to but there is almost no risk to damage the circuit lines but LCD side looks like it is very tricky.
I don't know if heating up before removing is a good idea since I don't know how much temperature the LCD can handle without taking damage.
firebird
Removing from the board no problem as the board can take a lot of force,
I acytally used 800 sand paper and got the board nice and shiny on the contacts.
LCD was hard , i did use my fingernails mostly and also used a plastic scraper, but i it's very hard to remove and thisk that's killed the LCD.
For temperature , that's possibly a good trick ?? havent tried but could be the way to go.
try heating up to 50deg, that should be no problem ( dislpay will most likely be darker at this temp )
I use 50 deg to dry out moisture from damaged multimeter's with dislay without damaging them

Hi,
any update yet?
I got the ribbon cable for my X5 MID and failed too. I tried it seven times and always didn't get all pixels to work. I noticed that the ribbon cable that I received is a bit smaller than the pinout on the LCD and board. I tried everything (as mentioned in supplied instructions) to match them up but it looks like the ribbon cable is going back to its initial size (a bit shorter) after I put everything together and in the end some pixels still don't work.
Don't think it is an easy job!
firebird
Tried again and no go I'm afraid
But I think that I damaged the display during the process of cleaning debries from the old ribbon cable.
If I try again then I would leve the debries there and try without to see if that's work ( can always try clening as a last try )
But no it's not an easy job , think I would recommend sending it for repair or do as I did buy a new.
Just tried since I had the old one there from before.

I am working in Copenhagen, but live about 80-90 km south-west from Copenhagen.
I think that the E31 is pretty rare in Denmark. I have only seen one other E31 on the road, and actually never met another E31. Most people I talk to do not know the car and most of them think that it’s a newer car, which shows that BMW made a quite unique design 20 years ago
You could have seen two Black Norwegian cars going trough Denmark fast after the meeting in Nederland we where late to catch the ferry and had to break a few speed limits

Personally I think that Original is the best if you have the option.
But these I think would look great on any E31
Go for it

Hi Fabrice
Greetings from Denmark.
I drive a Brokatrot 850i, VIN CB14125 (1991-11-12) that I bought in Munich, Germany some years ago. It’s a 6 speed manual with just 120.000 km on the clock and anthrazit Interior
Just like you I have also grown more and more happy with this color, and the way it seem to change depending on the light.
This is actually my first post on the forum, but hopefully not the last
Welkome Nielsen
Great to see some activity in Denmark , we have lately managed to get most of the Norwegian car's registered ( 100 ) and Pelle has identified most of the Swedish car,s ( 260 i think ) so there are now an activity boost in Norway and Sweden , hoping to see the same in Denmark ?
Sweden is in the process of starting a E31 club , and we are discussing the same in Norway.

As title says CSI Mirrors or E30 DTM or M3 ????
What came first??
Pretty sure CSI had these mirrors before M3 but some people claim that E30 DTM had them earlier?
Do anyone know the story here?

right then guys, i havent been to look at the 850 yet, but have pursuaded myself that its just not gonna happen i really dont want to sell my 540i sport so i can run the 850, yeh i'm on the 8 series international forum so i'm probably going to get pins shoved into my voodoo doll
but have been looking and hearing about the potential running costs/repair bills that can come with an 850 and at the moment i'm not in the finanial circumstances that allow me to throw money at a car.
i will get some better pics today though, and have told the guy selling it not to advertise it yet until you guys have first look here is my mobile number for when i put the pics up if anyone is intrested, and the price of 4k is very firm

With new ones the car should be stable and calm at high speeds.
I have e34 m5 bushings and the pitman arm bushing ready to go in, I just did not have time to do it before this trip.
Mine are not that far gone, but at high speeds the car became nervous and a bit of a handful to drive so we pretty much stayed below 200km/h.
As picture says I had to wait for him all the time ha ha.
But Nice RPM in that speeed , car is not stressed at all. -
Gerrie and Dick thanks for a great weekend.
We did arrive safe home , no speed cameras i hope because then i must probably walk for some time .
Had an interesting drive home with road's closed both in Nederland and Norway where the main road from South to West was closed and we had to go over an old montain road with fog, 0 deg and possible freezing.
Did arrive 5h ago at 4.30 this morning after driving a total of 1350km.
