Her's the instruction scanned
Have a few comment's it says NO Soldering needed but thats not the case.
On mine i had to desolder three pins going to the Frame where the light bulbs are.
Secound It's wery tricky to place the ribboncable correct ( I failed on first attemt ) and had not pulled it apart yet to try again.
Will give you an Update on hove it goes -
Venter på bilder fra dette treffet
Må vel ha vært mye fine biler

There is a company that now sell the ribboncable that is the root cause of the pixelfailures for many BMW.
They also have the ribbon cable for E31 OBC
I just ordered one and got it yesterday, will try and replace it and see hove it turns out, but think this has a chance to work well.
Tricky here is to place the ribboncable correct as well as clean display and pcb before mounting ( came with instructions )
I can scan them and upload here if you give me a day.

Here's one more I found , but for sure there must be more hot pictures of 8'er???? if not then a serious photoshoot is needed ASAP.
The other where you can't see the 8'er that's because they just parked it and went for a walk -

What if you start the car and just let it run on idle are all fine then?
If not then I would have measured the battery voltage.
If car need to speed up the rev to work , one test could be to attach a charger that can give some amp's then start the car to see if it works
( this will give you a but higher voltage on the batteries when charger is connected )
If car fails only when putting it in reverse, then it could be a short as said by Reinhard ( attach a multimeter to see if battery voltage drops )
could be as easy as a short in the bulb it self?

Thanks for the replies....and this is the whole reason for producing write-ups! In the future, another member will know exactly what to do and learn from my mistakes. So, go on, the next time you do a repair or a mod, get the digital camera out, take loads of pictures, do a write-up at the same time and post it on the Forum, it saves a lot of people a lot of pain!
Timm , just realized hove few feedback there really was here but can assure you that this was really helpful thanks for your effort and same to all other doing the same
I have now installed three steering wheels now thanks to this decription ( using the old guide pin ) and new bracket as well as disconecting ground wires

This is a nice one.
Not that I like that motor came from a CSI but can only hope car was damaged and could not be repaired.
It started as a 316i compact and ended up as a "M356"
Ever seen anything like this one?

weekends only. 7 cars on the drive, not all mine though.
3 grown up kids who won't leave home and now 2 girlfriends cars.
And your wife is OK with you having two girlfriends and they even park there
That's the way to go -
Really hope it will be alive for MANY years, as a relative new E31 owner I have alredy learned a lot and must say that the help provided here is excellent.
I was a bit worried when I got this car on hove to maintain as well as get spareparts and finding experts if needed , But having a forum like this then there is just no worries at all
The expertice here is absolutely top and do not think any workshops around can come even close ( at least not in Norway ) this I belive for many of us is a very good reason for keeping the car's.
Many thanks to all of you
And yes I do log in several times every day and read it all.
Hoping to contribute in the future when other need tip or help

I Bought my CSI a year ago and have driven it 6k already but that includes a long trip from Munich where I bought it and back to Norway.
Only to be used when weather is fine and rain forecasted.
And no winter driving.
Plan to keep that car for a long time and to keep it with a low mileage ( only 108k now )
As well as keeping the car as close to factory new as possible, knowing that will cost but I hope to have a beautiful car also 5 -10 years down the road.
