Just as shown in Revtors picture they still look just the same as they where delivered back in 1994
See pictures below of the new ones and hove they look mounted.
Was a great feeling just knowing it looks good under the car as well and people knowing the details of a CSI will identify it easily just by looking at the rear muffler.
One question : is it better to drill a small hole at the bottom to get moisture out to prevent it from rusting from the innside?
Anyone done that? -
Greetings from Norway
Pelle , This was a fine meeting and we enjoyed coming home to you on Friday evening , thanks for a great meal and your hospitality ( still can feel the taste of these good potatoes )
We started 05.00 from Stavanger and had snow in the air and on the road the first to hour’s , well that went fine but really slow as it was very slippery.
Just had 10km on the counter when we was pulled over by the police , as they believed the car’s possibly was stolen as they never had seen 3 of this type before ( probably believed it was a new BMW’s stolen from a car shop )
We picked up more car’s on the road down , also had two cars coming on Saturday and ended up with seven cars from Norway visiting Sweden
Rest of the trip went fine not stopped by the police thanks to other blinking their light’s and not stopped in the custom
Some of the pictures taken outside Pelles house , and cars got washed after a long trip.
Even Pelles cat liked the 850 and the bonnet

Vi kommer 3 stykker med ferja Thor, Egil og Meg og så Per og Rolf rett etterpå , de kjører rundt og tar kansje litt mere tid.
og så to stykker på lørdag

Ended up with Castrol on my car
Filled 2.7 liter on the rear axel , did not believe it could really take that much but it does if the Oil cooler is empty.

New mufflers ordered
New one ordered and will be picked up in Sweden while we have the meeting.
Just had to replace them as I hate the way they looked under the car.

This evening we had a small meeting in the West coast of Norway
This for sure is the first time there has been this "many" E31 at the same place in Norway , we had 8 cars present , 4x 850CSI 3x 850i and one 840
Yes I know it's not that many but for us it was great to see , all had a good time and suddenly we had spent 3 hours.
This is wery promising for the work of getting a Norwegian E31 group up and running.

I don't think you'll find many dealers who have a set in stock ;).
No i don't think so myself but you never know -
While replacing seal on the rear axle and having the mufflers out of the car I also took out the Oil cooler for the Rear axle as it was quite rusty.
After taking it out there was no oil to be drained it seemed from it , so used pressurized air to blow trough it and what came out was tick and ugly oil smelling bad , to me it seems like it was clogged and have not worked for a while?
Oil in the rear axle was fine still. but got replaced 2.7 liter all in all
Anyway , got it glass blasted to get rid of the rust and old paint and repainted it so look nice and as new under there and now works as it got hot while driving. -
Not sure i completely followed you guys there.
But if i order these mufflers should i then expect that there are already Chromed tip's as the ones I have.
If I understood you correct.
Anyone know someone in a BMW store that can take a picture of a new on?

Hmmm yes that's a bit confusing
Do not whant to spend a fortune on these mufflers if they turn out looking like cheap copies.
And they do cost a foot and a arm
Well they will last a bit longer , just look terrible under the car when the rest look good.
Well hopefully there are someone out there that have seen them.

Hi
Anyone that lately have ordered original rear mufflers for 850CSI?
Pos 2 and 4 in picture.
It seems like you have to also purchase pos 18 , on the old one they for sure are a part of the muffler.
Or should I not even think about keeping these original ones? , Even if my main goal are to keep the car 100% original

Hello Terje,
it seems that for a LSD Castrol SAF-XJ is the recommended choice.
Read more here
Cheers

Thank's is Castrol the recomended oil type overall for E31 ? -
Recommended Oil type rear axle 850CSI
Searched the forum but could not find any recommendations for oil types to be used on car.
Need to replace rear axle oil and was wondering what to use ( the best you can get )
But really the same question would be for the other fluids in the car.
What do you experienced guys out there use?

But Divorce is usually very expensive
It's always expencive to upgrade to a "younger" model with less milage, Belive me I know
But hope you find a great one, Think there is starting to get less of them

I have tried his car and it's really brutal now , torque on low rpm is just amazing.
I have a CSI myself but do not think I have any chance to keep up in the acceleration
We have to try one day

Thanks
Just sent him a mail, but are there AHK on Canadian version of the CSI?
