    Hi schnitz850

Ended up with english on both tread's but anyway
My idea was to try the two biggest groups ( German and English ) hoping that someone has seen or experienced this before
    So same answer on both,

Thank's for trying  I am feeling a lot better today :harhar:

Think I have a good solution if I can't find some original ones, using sealed offshore connector's we just happen to have at work
Or I will just run this as an insurance case.
Have an appointment with the local BMW dealer on Thursday so will see then.

Anyway did find some numbers on them , but no match to RealOem parts search.

    Partnumber found
    BMW 13837 51
    AMP 963257 1

    and

    2 962031 1

Tryning an update on English, must be someone that have seen this contact used somewhere or possibly have something on the shelf?
Possibly that this has been used in other BMW from this age?

I have a couple of thing's to do if I cant get the correct one, but would really like to have it 100%
I have been in contact with insurancce company ( still will cost me a lot )
Or could use some offshore connectors we use and splice in the wires.

26 Pin connector ( Only 15 in use ) see pictures Anyone??

:help: Sunday starting to lift up the car to replace seal in rear axle then the jack slid, car fell down ( on the jack ) crushed the connector on the AHK unit, also made a big dent in the trunk floor but guess that’s the easy part to fix.
Can assure all of you that Sunday was not a good day I really felt terrible , trying to tell myself that it’s just a thing ( did not help at all ) and that I was lucky not to be under ( didn’t really help ) :banghead:

My real concern are the connector’s as I guess it’s a part of the AHK unit as well as the one on the Car main harness.
Anyone knows if these connectors can be bought As a spare part?
Anyone out there with parts available?
Need just the connector on the AHK unit , or a complete AHK unit
Could do with a AHK unit that is damaged as well as long as the connector is fine.
Main harness for the car same question, need connector or parts of harness to splice inn to main harness
Splicing is no problem as I am a Electronic Tech.

Please help, for sure would need some good news now.

Thanks...but are we talking multi-changer and how do you strip it down without taking it to a specialist audio guy.

Multi changes can be tricky to dismantle and would not recomend to do so if you have no experience.
But on some of them the cover can easily be removed , and possibly then the Laser unit is visible.

And anyway if it's already broken, what's the risk??? other then to break it even more;-)

Sorry but can't remember these ones anymore other then it's really a Pioneer player ( assuming it's original BMW we are speaking about )
Have repaired some of these in my previous job but it's 10 years ago
Only thing that pop's up in my mind is that they are monted internally with some spring/damping mec. and think this was also fixed to the cover.

CD lens cleaners is usually just a waste of money and time I'm afraid.
They also several times jams CD player mec. specially magasin players.

I have several times had good result by cleaning lenses on CD players , but only by opening them and using Q tips directly on the lens.

First add a bit of water on the Qtip then gently wipe the lens in circles next use the dry end to get lens absolutely dry.

NEVER use alcohol or other stuff as lenses are made of plastic and will get damaged.

If this does not work , the next step is usually to replace Laser mec.

Well what can I say

Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them.

I found out when upgrading to Wife2.0 that memory of Wife1.0 was as much as 10 years :harhar:

Sounds wery much like an capasitor issue.

An old capasitor often looses it's capasity when cold, have seen 100uF capasitors measuring 25uF when cold and heated up with the soldering iron getting back to it's stated value.

Old trick used in Radio/tv repair buisness is heat guns and freezing spray to locate Cap's that has lost it's capasity.
This problem is actually quite common for all types of electronic, specially swith mode powersupplies where it's the problem number one.
( have made a lot of money on that :grin2: )

Have seen several post's on this issue , here's one http://www.8er.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9527

Would really concider using a 60 to 80 W temperature-controlled soldering station, as you need heat to transfer fast into the soldering and not heating up all other close by components.

A 30W soldering iron is usually to week for desoldering purposes and often ends up in damaging the PCB instead.
If you don't have some soldering skills then I would not recomend to do this yourself, get help.

Also see that these component are having feed trough solderings ( both sides ) this means that enough heat need to be transferred to the other side to get component loose. do not use any force.

I would have replaced these capasitors with 105degrees C ones as they are of a higher quality and last longer, if possible when working on electronic I always do.
They can also take high temperatures better without drying out.

    Hei.

    36 x 850i Automat
    6 x 840CIA ( en er en utgave med 4,4 liter motor )

Just an update of the Norway owner registry.

Slowly growing now, have identified 78 cars and owners
Most owners has been contacted and all are very interested so we believe there is a good chance of really getting a Norwegian E31 group up and going.

We will encourage all of them to use this forum as well as register at Jud's

Job has increased a bit as we also wanted Chassis numbers and pictures of all these cars.

Have collected 68 chassis numbers and pictures of 50 of these car's.

After speaking to many of these owners it seems clear that most of these cares are in VERY good shape and are being well taken care of.

Will get back with more details on the statistics on E31 car in Norway later
