In the years I have owned my 93 850Ci I have gone through batteries every 3 years in spite of keeping it on a battery minder when in the garage. Has anyone trued deep cycle or marine batteries to get longer life?

I noticed that the digital display containing the mileage and odometer readings does not go out or dim after shut down. Even after 30+ minutes it remains illuminated. I am now watching to see if it goes out when shut down and NOT on the battery minder. I just replaced both batteries - I have had the 850 for four years so the batteries have given me decent service (Florida heat is hard on batteries). Has anyone had a similar experience?
