it would seem that the so called specialist ????? had when refitting the dash and surrounding areas had joined up any connectors that looked as if they were the same !!!! what a dick head !!!!!!!!!!!
so as we went through the bits and pieces it became clear a few adjustments and hay - presto things are working again.
Some BMW specialist ? I think not !

A friend of mine has bought a 1998 840ci sport, very good ? its not a bad car other than the faulty bits, so the immobiliser packs up and the car is recovered to a so called BMW diagnostic specialist who promptly tares the dash apart looking for a mysterious loss of voltage ???? 9 weeks past then came the call ' i don't think i can repair this' ! So says i of to Mr BMW dealer with you, so the car was recovered again and of to the dealer, who within the day had diagnosed the fault as the immobiliser module and offered a price for the repairs, the car was collected the next day reprogrammed and working. The so called specialist had only loosely fitted the dash parts so over the next few days we began to secure various plastics, switches and trims until we came across a wire from the glove box lock mech ? We refitted the lock and clipped in the micro switch but were does the wire go ??????? We then began to strip the glove box, centre console and various covers and air ducts ! but no joy, the cable from the switch is @ 30cm long so moving in an arc there is only so many places it can plug into but nothing, 5 separate people have now looked, its becoming game a sort of lottery as to who will find the connector first ?
So i need help as to were this connector goes is in relation to the wiring harness behind the glove box or centre console or somewhere any pics would be helpful also :help:
PS i you have any sense do not and i repeat do not go to that BMW specialist on the Team Valley Trading Estate at Gateshead UK as he can not remember were it plugged into:oops:8er.org/forum/index.php?attachment/27932/

Help, i've got an 840 ci 1998 auto its showing @85ooo, miles and has been stood up for a wile, now the auto box howls when at full throttle as the revs pass 4to5 thou, thought of pulley belts, not, hole in air intake, not, sound like air passing through the exhaust at supersonic speeds so i thought possibly the gear box any body else had a daft noise like this:driver:

    "1 must go"
and that is what i was told to do by the good lady wife !!!!
I had a plan as some of the regular 8ers will know, however, as things turned out, the 8 has sold before the 6! oh *+@k, and then some ?:bawling::bawling::bawling:

A guy looked around it for only a few minutes we went for the 140mph + test run (on a test track of course) " its been loved ' he said i'll give you what you asked the deal was done !!!! nice work if you can get it ?
So does any body want to PX a Highline 6 against a 850 CSi ???????

Just for a laugh, ask him if he can supply an AHK connector - I'm sure Huldra66 would be happy.

I did get a reply though i'd asked if he could get a side - spot light unit ?
reply was "sorry not at the moment there always broken" at least he replied,i may try for something else.

    Zitat von stevep840;74945

You are so very clever, thats the bloke Aaron !

    Dark Glass

    Zitat von stevep840;74941

Anything between £6k & £ 9k sorry thats a bit vague but recently I have bough & sold a 99T plate within those prices, does the Silver 840 have very dark glass?? if so it's most likely the one that's been for sale since pre Christmas, some geezer in Kent if I recall??

    Steve,
    This guys from surrey,
don't no about the dark glass, yet !
He seems to think its a very rare piece a sport of that year??

Some may have noticed that i have my 850CSi & 635CSi up for sale & one of them will have to go, so far i've had most of the dreaded looney car buyers (you all no the type) on for both, but i've been offered a swap for a 840Ci sport 1999 V reg in silver auto with history + cash for my 850CSi.
So can anyone give me advise for what would be a realistic price for the 840Ci for a quick resale ?????
    :driver:
    Cheers for any advice.

    Car Clubs

I have been involved over my motoring years with different CAR CLUBS & i must state here & now that most of the members of those CLUBS would rather discuss the change in performance differential related to the tyre pressures and wind speed at the time of a speed test run on a particular country lane that only they know about, or the type of seat used at the time
    ?%&$*+@ ????!!!!!
So far i have found nowt but genius & assistance offered to other members in the discussion pages of the 8er.org forum. of course there are some exceptions ? U no who u r . com ! :driver:
