The car takes approximately 15 minutes to completely turn itself off.

If you shut the car off and stay inside for a while you will periodically hear motors running as the climate control returns to default positions.

The odometer and gearshift indicator lights stay on for a period of time also.

    Welcome to the Club!!

Have you tried Syncronizing your windows? Someone may have suggested it on Roadfly already but. Open each window and then close it again but hold the button until you either hear an audible click or about 15 seconds.

Both of my rear side windows show about 10mm of glass above the seals when fully open. Do both of yours close to the same point? Windnoise?

Thre were not very many options on the 8 in the US

Each of the three engines have their own model number 850/840/850CSI

The wing is listed in the ETK parts list but I believe it is no longer stocked.

I think there were a couple of different wheel/tire combinations.

Most of the different looks came from the Tuners

There is a lot of information here on this site (down the page) on Stock and tuner versions

I'm just curious how much you are planning to pay for that level of Excellence?

I seem to be at the other end of the list.

My own theory consists of "Got it--Drive it" so my 840 is a daily driver.
Low price, clean, runs great, minimal records (maintained at independents) and daily dose of pleasure.

I don't have to make it a Garage Queen because it certainly isn't a Museum Quality piece.

I drive it in the rain and puddles everyday here in Portland. It is filthy at the moment but should get washed today if it doesn't rain too much. I'll probably park it for the annual day of snow and ice though.

It is way too fun of car to hide so I bought it to Drive.

But then People and Philosophies differ.

There was an 850CSi at 8 Fest with just over 2000 miles that was trucked to the meet and driven on the Saturday loop just for the photo ops.
I think that that is my opposite!

I wish you good luck in your search!

I remember the first BMW that I didn't buy. I was military in Italy in the late '60s. Several members of the local car club had bought 2002s and were doing Alpina upgrades.

It was one of those "Everybody is getting one" things so I did my usual Terry thing and bought an Opel Kadett Rally 1.9 instead. In Gold with a black hood and black rally stripes!

A special tune up and a set of Michelin XAS tires later and I could better the 2002 Alpina stage 1s and close to the stage 2s!! Unfortunately the prognosis for longterm engine survival was not good the way I drove then.
My Ex got the car as it was disentegrating the second time. I should just be happy that it wasn't the basket case '53 Ferrari I was offered for $500 while I was there. She started bitching about that one before I could say yes-Should have sent her home then! When last I saw another like it the asking price was several million!! Oh Well.

If it is like the US you find a BMW Dealer who gives discounts and put a lot of money on the counter.

Here the parts are dealer available only and come from BMW in Germany.

Don't forget the installation kit for the rear cover.

You could always do Tuner versions. That sounds much easier in Europe because the Tuners are all close.

As a note--if you misjudge where the curb is very often when parking you may not want to do an expensive one piece.

The current market seems pretty mixed in prices.

6 speeds usually bring a premium. A car with full records is another premium. Low mileage--the $40k end--is another premium.

Most are nice clean cars because big BMW's age well and if they are even close to well treated they will be nice.

If you are looking for a Perfect, low mileage, full records and nary a care in the world car you may be the blue guy holding his breath in the corner!!

But then again you could get lucky too.

Keep looking until you find what you want.

I decided that I wanted an 840 in Arctic Silver for under $20k after looking for a couple of months.

Lo and Behold--1 week later 10 miles from my house for $17k!!

:?: I don't expect or want this Forum to turn into a Den of Pornography as others have.

But what conventions for "Bad Words" and so on? I understand the internationalism of of the forum and that some words in everyday public usage in one place may be "Forbidden!!!! Words!!!" in others.

    My guess would be No.

I believe that a spacer is used to tune Runner length for specific rpms. Flow straightening and charge speed?

Both the V8 and the V12 have a Chamber after the throttle and then the Runners to the intake port. The V12 are the tubes crossing the top of the engine(Intake manifolds) and would be quite difficult to do any tuning on without a new casting.

The V8 versions are internal to the plastic intake manifold and are at max length now. The tube inlet is at the bottom of the side opposite the cylinder and the tube loops over the top and straight down to the port/valve.

It might be possible to simulate shortening them but making them appear longer would be near impossible

Both here of course and playing with the 3bies on Bimmerforums.com

I have been trying to keep at least one 8 series thread with pictures floating every weekend in the General section. After it wears out the moderators will usually move it to the 8 forum there if someone asks.

It seems like I am doing it alone most of the time. I don't think it needs to be a discussion forum for us as a group but listening to "outsiders" drool over the 8 is an agreeable feeling.

I send the very few 8 owners that I do find to Roadfly and now I can send them here too.

The problem is that I am running out of pictures without blatantly raiding archives everywhere!!

    HELP!!!
