Due to moving and no storage i urgently need to sell my beloved 850 of which i have owned for 10 plus years.
The car is in need of a bit of tlc and a light restoration due to standing for a while.
i have the logbook the car will run and drive but it will need to be trailored away.
The bodywork is in good condition just in need of a good wash and a few light scratches need removing. It has the later m style front and rear defuser.
the engine was rebuilt a few years ago and both headgaskets were replaced.
it is a 1991 in mauritious blue. and am only asking £1250.00 or the equivalent in euros. please pm me or call 07880868339 to discuss further.
    i am located in buckinghamshire.
    many thanks
    chris
p.s this car is too good to break.

Hi i am looking for a new home for my mauritius blue 1991 850 i auto.
i have owned for approximately 12 years and for the last 2 years it has been stored.
The head gaskets were both replaced along with a skim about 5 years ago but the car has only covered about 2k miles since the rebuild.
As mentioned the car was put out of commision due to a faulty speedo not working. I was informed that i needed a complete new binacle but had since found out that the unit went into test ok and was ok.
A faulty door microswitch is apperently to blame. Bad earthing and not awaking the digital bus "
The car has the csi mirrors "not electric as someone nicked the orignals "and bmw original front and rear spoiler and defuser.
The car is still in excellent condition with only a very slight rust buble on the bonnet leading edge. Also a coulple of light scratches have appeared.
The sunroof needs slight attention and one rear box is slightly blowing.
A fairly light renovation would suffice and bring this once stunning example back into service.
Reg is B50 CV available in cost if negotiated.
The trim except the drivers seat is very good but the drivers bolster has a slight hole.
I had genuine new discs all around which i had profesionally drilled at prima racing.
The car would have to be trailored away as i do not have an mot.
    I have found logbook now.
I am open to sensible offers and will take photos if required and e mail.
The car also has a set of oz 3 piece rims that have slight pitting and laquer flake.
Please do not associate this car with the old dogs out there.
It has had a lot of money spent on it over my ownership.
I simply do not have the space or time to restore it to its former glory.
Please either e mail me on "chrisvabc@hotmail.com"[/email] or p.m me or call 07880868339 to discuss further

    Site

I Agree we have paid our membership and then all of a sudden the site goes off line.
What exactly is going on and why were we not informed!!.
Is the site here to stay or not.
I understand and appreciate some people are trying to take the site over but a little bit of communication would not go a miss.

    Nicasil liners

    Hi
No unfortunately there is no cure so BMW had to stump up for new engines where required, the criteria being full BMW service history and a certain set milage.
Like i said unfortuately some cars slipped through the net as they were out of warranty or had covered too many miles.

    Brake binding.

Sorry i forgot to mention to get a mechanic to check the discs for wear and correct thickness and also also possible warping and also to make sure the pistons on the brake calipers are not seized up or leaking any brake fluid.

    problems.

With regards to the wheels i would personally stick with an 18 inch as 19 may look nice but don,t forget potholes etc and bad road surfaces can bend the rim the lower the profile you go on the tyre.
The clicking noise sounds like the brake pads are binding to the discs so i would remove and check for wear and re assemble "or replace if low"using copper slip or what ever hi temperature heat grease BMW recomend spred with a brush on the backs of the pads obviously not on the friction suface and also spray the calipers and all components discs etc except pads with a brake solvent cleaner available from any decent motor factor shop.
As for the mpg i would be very worried with only 13 per gallon.
My V12 does 16 when i go absolutely nuts so i would look into checking the airfilters "easily done yourself"
And failing that i would take the car to a garage or call out a krypton tuner or mobile mechanic to check the c o emmisions on your car by using a electronic co monitor to see if the mixture is running to rich.
A normal very good free indication of this is to check the colour of your exhaust pipes and see if they are sooty inside the tip or a nice greyish colour the same goes for your spark plugs they should be a nice light brown colour if they are to dark this also indicates a mixture problem.
The final tip is get someone to rev the vehicle when warm "not from cold" and check for excessive dark smoke this could indicate if you have checked all the above and they are ok that your cats may need replacing or a possible rings problem as the V8 engines were very well known to have a cylinder lining problem "see nicasil liners"that Bmw changed foc if the vehicle had done a certain milage and had a full service history unfortunately quite a few cars never had this problem addressed.
    I hope this helps

Sounds like lower radius arms or front top and bottom bushing on the suspension normally here in the UK it is the nearside of the car that suffers worse due to man hole and drains and generally bad roads.
The radius arms are aluminium with bushes either end the bars as far as know can only be brought complete with the bushes and are approximately £100.00 each.
They are about 10 inches long.
Get the car up in the air with both front wheels off the ground and check for play.

    vibration

Is the car a manual or auto.
Is the mileage genuine! if so there is no way the axle would need replacing unless there was no diff oil in it and believe me if this was the case you would hear it as a very bad wining noise.
I would get the car up in the air get a second opinion and check the universal joints to see if the rubbers have perished in the drive line and both drive shafts.
Check for play on both the above
Do not take the first opinion as gospel
these drivelines and axles are fairly bullet proof.

    M Mirrors

I had a set of M Mirrors nicked off my car.
I tried the BMW Dealer route and found that they will only sell the base plates as a complete item with the new mirrors so it stops people nicking them supposedly.

    plug fouling

I had a similar problem with my 850.
In the end it turned out to be the fuel requlator located at the back of the engine somewhere near the bulk head.
The car was over fueling and flooding all the cylinders.
I would try this if you have not already.

    Problems

If you do prove that th eitem is faulty how about trying a breakers yard in England.
I have used Quarry motors and Emray motors for various parts eg cat and sensors though they are 2nd hand they warrant certain parts for 6 months.
Not bad seeing BMW only warrant 1 year and these parts a hugely cheaper.
    Worth a call i say.

    gearbox

    Not that easy unfortunately.
I have discussed this with a friend of mine who is a specialist and he told me there will be problems with the OBC.
I asked if this problem was easy to solve and the reply was it really is not worth the trouble or expense
