I have quite a few of them (6) available here in the colonies but shipping could be somewhat spendy. $250 US$ each, plus shipping. If interested, contact me at: wuffer at shaw dot ca.

Good to hear you are still around Jud - don't be a stranger if you get to the Vancouver area

Yup, got a drawer full of abs sensors mostly from low mileage J-spec 850s. Will check tomorrow if I have any of the specified part number. Contact offline if interested.

Thanks all - Reinhard contacted me yesterday and all is well. Seems that my last emails to him, which included a Craigslist link) never got to him. No idea why but all is well now.
-
The usually prompt Reinhard has not responded to a couple of emails sent to him a few weeks ago about a written-off E31. This is very unusual as he normally responds within 24 hours. Has his email changed? Is he ok? Anyone??

Had the same issue on one of my 1991 E31's back when I had a matched set and also obtained an EML chip from Gault which resolved the issue. Apparently it affected some M70 cars in 1991 only as my other car did not have the issue. I have since installed the chip into a few other 1991 local E31's which were suffering from the same problem. Affected both autos and 6 speeds and two different EPROM chips were released by BMW. Likewise, I have never heard of the problem with M70 E32's but I do not follow those forums. I do have a few of each auto and manual chips available as I purchased all remaining chip inventory (thru Gault) a few years ago. FWIW...

Check the fusible links in the boot, especially the one hidden beneath the black heatshrink.

I have completely dismantled 6 of these things....

In my case it was a dirty filter in the bottom of the Pentosin Reservoir. Replaced filter and fluid and all was/is well.

My very similar problem was caused by dirty Pentosin filters. Because I have ASC+T I have a filter in the reservoir (replace this one) and one in a brass enclosure below the rad, This one is stainess steel and can be cleaned. Cheap fix if it works, maintenance if it doesnt.

Yes, they certainly do!

I have the Phoenix 8.5mm (red, of course) Magnecor/MSD coil set-up in my car and have experimented with copper, irridium and now, platinum plugs in my cranky M70 V12. All have worked well. I used custom speed shop wire looms and brackets to run the Magnecors without the OEM wire tubes. Highly recommend this setup.

For what its worth, when my ASC light became an annoyance (coming on whenever it felt like it) I was able to get rid of it by changing the filter in the Pentosin Reservoir and cleaning the filter in the ASC+T system. Was an easy, inexpensive fix.

Fuses are in the trunk , left hand side #33 and #39.

I removed these mirrors at the request of the owner from an imported to Canada J-spec E31. They look very much like the mirrors used on the M8 and have very European writing on the back. Obviously hand made in a model shop or prototyping shop. Anyone here have any knowledge of the source or ever seen them before?

In my case, it was a plugged filter in the Pentosin Reservoir. Relatively easy to replace.
