For what its worth, my #2 car has had an ASC light with a mind of its own for the past 3-4 years. Comes on whenever it feels like it. Sitting in my garage idling, on the road, at a stop, whenever. And it comes on, every time I drive the car.
This past weekend, on a whim, I changed both the filters in my ASC+T system. Sucked out most of the tired old Pentosin and replaced with new. Simple job overall. Now, two days later with many road trips, no more ASC light. Too early to say the filters and the grungy Pentosin caused the problem but am cautiously optimistic.
Worth a shot for those of you still experiencing the random ASC light problem.

I have a good inventory of this tool manufactured by Gerry and Phoenix. I am the low-key North American Distributor for the complete E31 line of Phoenix products. I also have a set of Euro headlights available.

Low coolant - check the level when cold and add coolant as necessary.

0 265 106 013 (BMW Part# 34 52 1 158 805) was superceded by 0 265 106 025 (BMW Part# 34 52 1 159 494). Either part number should work.
I have one of the 013's and two of the 025's. These are not cheap controllers. Contact me via email if interested. wuffer(at)shaw.ca -
Do the simple stuff first. Is the air filter(s) clean?
Remove the MAF(s) and using MAF or Brake cleaner spray the inside wires and element. Let dry and reinstall. Fixed the intermittent Trans Fail Safe error on my #2 car. -
Not if they know what they are doing. The primary filter is in the bottom of the Pentosin reservoir and is a D-I-Y replacement. Fiddly, but doable. If you have ASC+T the other filter is located under the car below the rad. Also doable at home. This one is stainless steel and spendy but can be cleaned and reused.

a) Pentosin level low
b) Pentosin filters plugged
c) Power steering pump failing
Most likely a or b. -
Gerry, my forum is private and membership is by invitation only under normal circumstances. Trying to keep the riff-raff out! That being said, I would always welcome the mature owners on this fine board to register and partake if so inclined. The rash of new registrations from Europe over the past few days has been confusing to me as I didnt see this message here until moments ago. Now it is all very clear. To those of you who registered welcome aboard. Access was granted to all who registered even if you did not receive confirmation. To those who did not receive confirmation is uis because your email bounced. Also if you did register, please take a moment next time on the Forum to update your profile to show your location if you havent already done so.
Thanks!

None of the "colour" added to my engine is hi-temp. It does get hot under the hood, but not that hot in my experience. FWIW!
