Just a reminder to those of you in the PNW that our second Wrenchfest of the year will be taking place again Saturday June 09 and Sunday June 10 at ChromeOwners "Gentlemens Gearhead Garage" in beautiful Ferndale Wa. If you have attended any of the three "official" events, you know that WrenchFests are a good time and lots gets done. There is no cost for the event and you may attend either or both days. Just bring what you need to get whatever you want done and some food/refreshment. Doors will open at 9:00am and close sometime after 6pm daily.
If you are planning on attending, please contact me via email with the email header "WrenchFest" and day(s) attending so we can have an approximate headcount. See you there!

Obviously, BMW recogniizes this as a failure point. -

What plugs did you install? The early V12's do not like Platinum plugs. If that is what you used, replace with Bosch F8LCR's. The platinums seem to work ok for a while then start causing problems. If you installed Platinums, I would bet that this is your problem. F8LCRs are a cheap replacement.

Part number of the "Lenksaulenmemory" or Steering Column Control Unit with Memory is 32 31 1 160 011. Pricey little unit.

BTW, I do have a spare EKM 62 11 8 354 460 available but if you are considering buying a new one, I would contact Dave B at Gault Auto in Endicott NY. Price will be very good on a new unit. You can find contact info here: http://www.buybmw.com Parts

The part number you provided is actually the EKM and supercedes the old# 62 11 8 354 460. The part that bothers me is that the Dealer "thinks" that is what is wrong. So if it isnt the cause of your problem then what? Do you own a pretty new EKM and still have the same problem?
Suggest that you go to my website and download the ETMDP pdf file and read section 6210 which explains the function of the EKM and all of the defect codes. Ask the dealer which code they got that leads them to believe the EKM is faulty.
Go here: http://www.wuffer.net/page6.html and get the ETMDP Electrical Troublesjhooting Manual Diagnostic Procedures.

If the connectors to the O2 sensors were crossed it will cause driveability issues. Did you change them or did a shop do it? Swap the connectors and see if it improves.

Price? Location? Pics?

In that case, I have one from my parts car.
See: http://www.wuffer.net/page4.html
It is still in the door assembly however so, removal of same and preparation for shipping would not be until late next week at the earliest.

Where are you located? And which passenger window do you want? Front or rear? LHD or RHD?

Try fuses 31/33/34/42/43 in the front power distribution panel located at the firewall, by the hood hinge, drivers side.
-
First, put fluid in all reservoirs. Second, replace the burned fuse in the front power distribution panel. Been there, done that.
-
If it is in good working order (no dead pixels) I will take it.

According to the ETM Manual the Tilt sensor/Inclination Indicator/Gradient monitor is located in the left rear of the trunk where the aux Fuse/relay panel/jack/etc is, but not in that panel.
