When I removed the inner fender cover the large one on 850i I found the small plastic wire cover for the headlight connectors. You might want to see if one of yours is hiding in there. just an FYI

Assumes that the rear spoiler will be removed?
Suspect contact problems in one of the clutch actuators at each side of the front lights.Should be interesting to follow this project, you will document with lots of images, I hope.

It is just pressed, The rubber hose is to hold it against the upper and lower part of the front without damaging the paint.
The rubber hose is split so that it is pushed to the protections.
