    Hi Barry
Hmm, I can see Maryculter from my house! We're in Milltimber... And I know several of the 8 series owners in the Dee valley. Let me know when you're back from the dark continent and perhaps we can have a beer... I was out in Nige a good few times with my old job (working for the pecten).
    Kind regards
    Simon

    aberdeen...

I'm in Aberdeen, and don't currently have an 8 although I had a Calypso red 850Ci for a few years... and am currently looking to get another 8.
I know several of the 8 series owners up here in Aberdeen, used to all wave at each other!

hemibum - have i seen you around? what are you doing in nigeria - yugh, been there too many times myself!

moirmd - that's not my old 850 is it? L602MBW? I saw it for sale in Dundee a year or two back...?

    Simon

    oops - rims finally ready...

    Dear All

Just got around to cleaning up my set of 17" throwing stars (as seen on 850CSi motors...) suitable for selling... Amazing how children can stop you finding the time for simple tasks...

I've now put them on ebay, start price 200GBP, no reserve...

    Item number is 2485596090

Please have a look / email me if you are interested...

    Thanks in advance

    Simon

well of course it wasn't made this last few months but it's straight from the factory, never been used, only been primed ad never had anything screwed onto it...

i'll find out the exact build date out of interest...

    simon

    nice...

    Hey Frank

I'm sure I've seen that car before...

It's not in Made is it? Went past a beautiful looking 8 series parked up on a drive there, on my way to a garage.

    Very nice...

Simon (currently in the Netherlands... but only briefly)

    rubbish...

just drive it up that lovely sloping bonnet and secure with straps....

yes, sorry for not anticipating the motorbike angle; my mountain bike was in my mind....

    dunno but...

I have a set of roof bars, which fit really nicely.

Although it looked a little weird I occasionally used a roof box with them...

Never took a piccie but a chap in the States on the E31 board there had a couple of piccies...

    Simon

    Dear All

I have a beautiful set of the original CSi 17" throwing stars in the garage and they have to go...

They are the rims only, no tyres. Can't recall the exact size of the rims but they took 235/45ZR17 front tyres and 265/40ZR17 rear tyres. Will fit any 8 series and they look beautiful.

They are in absolutely beautiful condition, hardly a mark, and weren't used much.

After GBP 800.00 for them as a starting price but will listen to sensible offers below that (i.e. make me an offer.....!)

There are a couple of pictures of them on my 850Ci in my home gallery, and a picture of the bolted cross spokes that I had on before.

I'll get them out of the garage this weekend and clean them up and take some more pictures to put on here.

They originally came off a Hartge upgrade to a CSi, so were barely used there, and then I upgraded my wheels on the 850Ci and only used them for a few thousand miles before family growing pains meant my 8 series had to be traded in... I put the original 17" bolted cross spokes back on the car to trade in, hence I still have the throwing stars.

I can get them sent anywhere in the UK easily, but if you're really desparate for a set in an international location (!) then I can check out the shipping costs.

    Kind regards

    Simon

    details...

    Hi John

Nice car there; I'd not thought about the green to be honest, but you're right - Barbados Green does look rather more blue than green, at least on your pictures.

Graham's car was Aqua Blue, for sure - saw it written on the front suspension mounts... Lovely interior too (piccy below, as I'm sure he doesn't mind sharing them...).

His wheels were the BMW option at the time; I think they were called M-II parallel or something like that. Will ask. I also think that they were 19" rather than 18" but again will get some details.

    Kind regards

Simon (Bertie was my 8 series, rather than me.....!)

    Not Dakar Yellow?!

Argh. Not Dakar Yellow surely? I know it looks nice on someone else's car, but imagine waking up to that every day. Especially if one chose yellow leather....

    one for chris

    Hey Chris

Lovely car there; don't know if you saw my post about colours but I wondered about Mauritius Blue too - have you got any pictures in sunlight? Would love to see some more of the car in varied lighting...

    Many thanks

    Simon

    well...

My other other car, the real family friendly one (have a peek at the personal gallery / album - I've put a couple of piccies of my cars there), actually has radar detector and laser garage door operated opening device all built in, nice and tidy, like a factory option. You'd never notice!

And if we take THAT one, then you would almost certainly not catch up. Well not on the straight bits anyway, too cowardly to steam around the corners)......!!!!!

That's also another nice colour, but I still have some trouble visualising the colours on an 8 series. IMHO some colours just look trash, even though they look nice on smaller cars (Estoril Blue for example).

Nice M3 site with the colours BTW. I think Aegean Blue is the pick of the bunch there.

    i could...

    Hey Ian

Well new baby depending (due in a few weeks)... we were thinking of a trip or two down south to see the rellies and August does sound rather a nice time. I'll keep in touch about that, and pencil it into my diary.

I'll ask a few people that I know in Aberdeen with their 8s too, and I'll try and track down another 850CSi owner here.

As for a convoy, well I could, but you'd all have to catch up with me. That repmobile has a beating heart for sure. Those Alpinas are not just for show, you know....!!!

    Speak soon, kind regards

    Simon

    Hello all

More than a year now without my beloved 8 series. Still miss the old dear, but the family situation just didn't suit.

Anyway, things on the up, looking to get back into 8 ownership in the medium term.

Now here's a query for you:

I've got the chance to get an 8 built for me, starting with a brand new unused shell. I might go this route if it works out okay for costs, and I can get the right engine / gearbox / interior mix sorted. But as the shell is brand new, I could conceivably have it painted any colour I like.

    So suggestions anyone?

I'm thinking about Orient Blue, Velvet Blue, some other nice blue, or some nice black colour like the new Carbon Black from M3s.

    Your thoughts greatly appreciated...

    Simon

    indeed indeed

    Dear Ian

Yes indeed I really miss how special the car was / is.

Don't know the new owner as I traded it in at John Clark BMW in Dundee and they never told me what happened to it.

I collected my 3 series saloon from the dealership, and definitely had a tear in my eye as I drove off. 11 months later I still realise how special those 8 series are. Still check autotrader every now and again... see how prices are doing.

Still, can't complain as my 3 series is a nice car. But of course another family expansion means that the 3 series saloon is now too small. 5 series estate time!

If you're going south and I am, would love to see some 8s wafting along. In fact it would be nice to see the dozen or so Aberdeen ones together. Should have organised it whilst I was here...
