Good luck-hope it is just a loose shock.

    Hi Terry,

Well, the anxiety was killing me so I pulled the boot trim, popped the wheel off and did an inspection.

Couldn't see any cracks in the tower mount. I did find that one of the two guide bolts for the strut was a little loose so tightened that. Unfortunately, it didn't cure the squeek.

Then I played around with the shock sleeve. This wasn't moving freely and had mud deposits around the top near the tower mount. Freed it up, put the wheel back on and no more squeek!?

Took her for a burn on the motorway, around some tight corners and over some rough road and still no squeek.

Just to be on the safe side, I will get BMW to change the guide support, absorber and washer plate on both sides.

Thanks for pointing me to this potential problem. Actually, now you have, I have seen numerous posts relating to cracked tower mounts. My question is, if it's so widespread, what can be done to prevent it? - ie. can I do anything so I will never have to use the dreaded weld repair kit or will my towers eventually go?

Does anyone know where I can source a CD Interface for the stock Bavaria Professional C (RDS) (made by Becker) ?

I believe mine is fried

Radio/Tape works fine but the head unit doesn't see the CD changer. I've checked all connections and they look good.

    Thanks Terry,

She's off to BMW next Monday and they will have a look. I will point out the shock mount/tower area - although they're official BMW, 850 specialists are as rare as hen's teeth so I contstantly find myself isolating the problem (normally with the help of others!) and then pointing them in the right direction.

    Hope it's nothing major....

    I have a Euro 93 CSi #CC00155

'She' has developed what I would call a squeek (like a mouse) in the right-rear every time I go over a bump. It was very minor (only big bumps) and now squeeks all of the time (every bump) and is getting so audible, it can be heard above the sports exhaust !

I thought it might be something loose in the drivetrain or exhaust but have narrowed it down to something in the rear suspension. With the car stationary and engine off, if I push down on the right-rear panel, I hear the squeek.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Cause for concern?
