Fern,
Do you know which company was used in Germany to ship the M8 to California?
I am about to ship a car from Germany to California and am very intrigued by the pallet construction the M8 is shown on (fits inside a container I assume).
Thanks,
Michael -
I look forward to following the restoration process Roger.
How does one achieve same resistance to paint chips as with factory paint? I have only ever seen an increased sensitivity to stone chipping for resprayed vs factory paint cars, but there has to be some expert automotive paintshops out there with the ability to formulate, apply and cure paint and clear coats to factory standards or better when we are talking about resistance to chipping.
Best,
Michael -
I heard from Mobile Tradition years ago that one of the reasons the car was not suited for public display was that the Lexan/Acrylic windows were all yellowed by time etc. Maybe lightweight window material is the reason for the B pillar?

Revtor,
I think your proposed changes make a lot of sense. I agree with them. -
My distinct impression is that while the German section is overflowing with great contributions from many enthusiastic owners, the english section has almost no input going on. Seems like there is an inherent imbalance in contributions. I wonder if this is what has made roadfly and bimmerforums deteriorate? A few bad apples etc...

Just an FYI, it is quite easy to get this show via torrent. Try www.thebox.bz for instance.

Was Carl T. (owns a red CSi) among the participants?
I know him from my time spent in the US, so I was wondering if he is part of the scene up there in Norway?
Cheers,
Michael -
I remember reading Pierce Brosnan being very fond of his 850CSi.

The 245/40ZR18 are sold.

Looks like a great meeting in sunny California!

Good morning Peter, that was quick! The two 245/40ZR18 tyres are yours then. I will email you separately and then we can take care of business.
Cheers,

I am selling the following brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 1 tyres:
6 pcs. 285/35ZR18 97Y manufactured 3605 (x2), 4405 (x1) and 4505 (x3)
2 pcs. 245/40ZR18 93Y manufactured 3105 (x1) and 4605 (x1)
4 pcs. 235/40YR17 90Y manufactured 2002 (x2) and 2102 (x2)The tyres have been stored dry, dark and cool. Each tyre has been in a separate shipping box, so no deformation from stacking tyres on top of each other or other nonsense.
For prices, I am thinking € 270, € 200 and € 150 a piece, respectively. I think I will have to sell in sets as single tyres are harder to sell, and I want to sell all these tyres. They can be shipped with DHL, picked up by buyer or shipper commissioned by buyer.
I have attached some photos to this post, hope they turn out OK.
Cheers,
Michael -

Peter, I have several new and unused sets of Michelin PS1 in the dimensions 245/40/18 and 285/35/18, all tires YR or ZR rated of course and with the right load index for the E31. I am right now at my computer uploading pics for another gentleman here who is interested in some rear tyres. Maybe a combined shipment to the UK is on the horizon?
Cheers,
Michael -
I will put this up in the "for sale" section, but thought this may be of interest. I have 2 or 3 full sets of Michelin Pilot Sports in the dimensions 285/35/18 (rear) and 245/40/18 (front) that I will put up for sale during the next week. I do not think these tyres are still made? If you are interested, PM me with offers.

I just want to introduce myself officially here in the forum. Most German and US members already know me, but only a couple of the Scandinavian members here know me (I think).
My name is Michael, I am 40 years old (argh! although it is not nearly as bad as I thought, haha), a Dane living in Switzerland, and I have a passion for cars in general and Alpina in particular. Currently I own an E31 B12 5.7, an E36 B8 4.6 Cabrio, an E36 B8 4.6 Touring and an E39 M5. The B8 Touring is however in the process of going to a new homeI have agreed to help out with the Scandinavian forum as much as I can, mainly being the contact person between the activities in CH/D and Scandinavia. If you guys have any questions, comments or suggestions to the Scandinavian section of our community, feel free to let me know.
I hope to see many of you at future meetings. The past meetings have been great and it is very nice to experience how meeting people through this hobby turns in to long lasting friendships.Cheers,
Michael -
There are 30 free routes apparently from Top Gear here:
http://www.tomtomgreatestroutes.com/I intend to explore a few of them.

Fredi,

Thanks Reinhard, I thought the battery holder plate was welded in place and the threads related to something under the rear wings being bolted up into the body shell. I will have a poke around underneath.
Steve5 - Yes, please let me have the details of your man in Pershore. I don't have workshop facilities at home yet and I was not aware of any local specialist - hence using Robert Sterns.
Please let us know if the battery holders are welded on or only attached by screws as I also want to remove mine for cleaning.
Thanks,
Michael
