This bracket often snaps when remowing the cover.
Any ideas how to make them stronger?
I have read different ways how to lift the eight in forums. I havent lifted the car at home yet. I will make some good cleaning inside the wheels soon.
I plan to lift the car this way :
Use the jack that comes with the car (in the holes) and then use a garage jack or (jackstands) under the plastic pads to make the car more stabil, while changing/cleaning inside the wheels.
Any comments ?

Re: Frequency....
I take her out for a ride two times a week from april - oktober. aprox 4000 km each year. Of course i would drive more, but i also want her to last for ever. My 840 has past 105500 km. And in ten years it should be under 150.000 km. I think there will be few 8 sereies left with that low milage, and in the supercondition i try to keep her. I know that many people has a different meaning, and will use their car a much as possible, but i am restricted in my use.
Can anyone tell me how normal/rare it is to dont have
side indicator lights on a 1993 840ci ?

Re: Potential 8 series buyer
Hi I have also heard lots of stories that its expensive to keep the care in shape. But I have been lucky. I bought my car in Sept 2004 with 95.000 km. I have driven 11.000 km wich i guite little so far. Anyhow this is the cheapest car i have ever owned. I have just changed oil and brakefluid.
I'm only using the car once or twice a week in nice weather. Nothing have gone wrong so far. My opinion is: If you find a car with only 80.000-90.000 km and everything works when you get it. You may drive 40.000 km with low expences. Oil/brakepads/brakefluid/filters.
I.m very careful with my baby, but if you use her as a daily driver the hole year you need more money to keep her lucky.
Just back from my garage visiting my baby. Unfortunately there is a lot
of humidity in the garage because the temprature changes with the temprature outside, wich could be -15 to + 15 in Des to Mars. I try to keep
my baby superclean, but i'm still afraid that she can begin to rust.
Should I hire a garage with steady room temprature ?, or are the eights very resistant against rust as long they are clean from salt and gravel.
Once a month from Des - Mars I take her out for a drive, I've heard that
this is better than leaving her lonely for three months.
Any tips of rust-preventing/storing would be nice.

Re: Pics of the CSi taken today
When it comes to a csi with low milage there is no need to ( think long and hard for months about buying) JUST DO IT, i'm glad you did.
Re: Production numbers - Interesting
Found out today that there are 6 840,s in Norway. and every car i uniqe in colour. Here they are:
1993 Silver (mine)¨
1993 Black
1993 Green
1994 Red
1995 Blue
1995 Grey
Norway is a small country, and i get a lot of feedback every time i
take her out in good weather.
Re: Child seat conundrum
I also put a towel and a small pillow under the full child seat to protect the seat, works ok
Just looking at the production number chart, and i tried to estimate how
many 840 ci which is just like my own. Here is my calculation.
There are 800 840ci from 1993 with LHD and AUT transm.
10% (?) produced in sterling silber (80 cars) and 40 % with
silver grey leather seats. This means 32 cars just like mine,
Am I close in my calculations ?

Norway
Thanks ! Ithought i find some new stuff, i was wrong.
I found this link on a swedish Bmw Forum site, enjoy it !!
Re: 840 ALERT Oilpump
Never thought this should happen to my 840 with only 104.000 km and in mint condition. But today i dropped the oilpan, and one of the bolts was fallen off, and was laying in the pan. We took out the oilpump and every bolt was cleaned and we put on locktite on every bolt.
Its a shame that Bmw dont agree that this is a problem on m 60 engines.
Here in Norway they just care abbout how many cars they will sell every year.
[quote="miniblob"]They look nice - so hard to tell if they'll suit the 8 though!!
Any idea on the make and model of wheels?? I could be tempted by a set of those for my 3 series!![/quote
They are called: IMOLA EVO
Here is the link
Considering buying new rims for my 840
they are for sale in sweden.
10*18 285/35 rear
8* 18 245/40 front
Today i use rondell 58 (see my album)
any suggestions ?
Took a ride with my new baby yesterday to a party. On the way home (after a glass of vine) i was seated back, and my girlfriend was driving.
And it was like being in a "airplane on the road", but on this "flight" i was never complaining about the lack of space for my body. How could i ?.
With my twins from my first marrige, we are five people in the family, not to practical with my big metal baby, but i will never sell her.
PS !! If anyone are visiting Norway in April/May there are two big meetings:
23 April, Bmw car club Norway at Frogneseteren (Holmenkollen Oslo)
14/5, All kind of sportcars at Øvrevoll (Oslo)
Last year i was parking beside another Bmw V8 at Øvrevoll, some like the 50's other the 90's.
