doesn't seem to be the vac filter, thing is i'm using the car dayli and can't
afford not having it for a long time, should i take it to my local garage and direct them towards alternator or a leak, or should i go to the steadler?

the alert is now turning on every trip almost, and i feel somthing
loose under the center consol, there's a slight bang from there when
    i floor it...........

true but it stills looks awful.............
as much as i can credit my taste as a designer and architect , fact is then,
that a 1998 golf or polo display looks better than a 2008 7, 5,6 series..................
general point about customising concluded on many posts is do
    what makes you feel good..................
is there no way making it look uncheap arnie?

its a five speed auto, car done 129000miles, the shifting is fine at all time, smooth even when reversing, can't really find a similarity in the 3 times it happened, which makes me more worried.............

thanks 8 tech, the car went trought a full check without connection to that problem last week, everything shows to be fine, when the problem accures i'm loosing the power, after a restart or two, even three the last time everything is fine again.........

hey guys, i have read the previous posts on that notice, only in my case
it came very rendomly, so it makes me loose comfident in my car, can anyone direct me to a problem, it has happend 3 times in 2 months maybe, once after the car was parked for over a week which i did think was to do with a battery low current problem(and only a few moments after starting her up), but the two other times where very random in the middle of the road, 5 kilometers from start.........which made me worry...............helpsy

    VERY WELLCOME REZA,

i'll share with you my experience in case it helps,
brought 4 bilstein eibach springs to the stealer last year, they could
fit only the rear, me thinking they only had to change some upper
part for the front...........my spanish wasn't so good at the time, result
i got the bilstien in the back and orriginals no edc in the front (idiots), ride ain't
that bad , sort of a sporty compromise, then again never road an all round bilstein,
from my research eibach are the best, and i do feel saving fuel when
i put a pricy one, but never tested, i just prefer ignoring these numbers completly, for the oil i would follow shnitz's advice, sound logic, and he's
    an expert..........

good luck, we are here for you

o.k the results, a wing of the Viscous fan broke out, the fan
wasn't spinnig pefectly, the engine heated up, the termostate lost
his passion of work, and that's the whole shabang, only now
all that bad rotation buisness got the water pump to leak water
from the sides, they say i need to change it, did that at bmw's
a year ago( 800 EURS pump and parts) , but in another country, am
i still garantied? should i go to steadler or continue there?
my local also says that no way my thermostat was changed one
year ago like bmw reciept says, does the number on the thermo
    state the year?

thanks for the help, have just rented a car, think my 8's not
    gonna be my daylie anymore...........

    STILL NEED HELP

they have change the fan clutch as well, and the car didn't
warm up any more, than when i picked it up it was all trembling
and i felt like i was driving a diesel.......

they have been through everything engine wise and couldn't
find the source of the problem, checking the plagues, heads,
compression and running a full diagnose with no negative results,
a bmw specialist wasn't of any help neither, they say it can't be serious
cause they've checked it all, what can it be?

i could have bought a 6 series long ago with all the money spent
on that car and in times like that i can't be bothered any more, it's
been 2 weeks without a car i really need these days...........

    help

    Hi Arik,

Thank you for bearing with me, sorry it has taken a day or two to respond, but Gerry has given me this reply to send to you and you are more than welcome to quote/post this on the Club E31 board.

The reason for the thinner plate on the later reinforcing plates is because many people were fitting the originals with worn top rubber mounts which allowed excessive lateral play, and in a few cases caused the top washer to squeak against the reinforcing plate. Therefore the new plates have a marginally larger diameter to clear even when fitted with worn top mounts. This makes absolutely no difference to the integrity of the reinforcing plate, which is there to reinforce the bodyshell skin around the mounting nuts.

I would in fact be just as effective in 2 separate crescent parts, but would of course be more difficult to install.

    Kerry

noggie gerry srongly advised me to keep away from these
as they were from plastic or something and failure was
soon to come..........i'm no expert but it's feels just like the
car is suppose to be, on a strait line as well, just drove 200
highway miles yesterday, and your front sort of goes to the
way you're going without the roll, it all feels more precise....
