    Hi there
I am going over to Germany shortly
Does anyone know of a good reliable Bmw technician
that specialises in 8 Series in or around the Dusseldorf Cologne/Bonn area
I have a CSI that I want to take over and get a little TLC
    Cheers
    JEFF

Sadly one of our graceful ladies no longer makes the grade
To keep her on the road
Although she is in perfect nick
So, regretfully we have to break her up for spares

Therefore if anyone is needing any spares for an 850
please give me a ring or email me

    Jeff

    Similar thing happened to me
    I agree about the batteries
    Dont forget to disconnect both
then maybe try your spare key Maybe that will work
    That was my problem
The key had become corrupted and had a new one made
    Problem solved
    Hope it works for you

    I have just recently acquired a 850csi
but the gearbox has a strange runbling to it
The previous owner had a new clutch fitted by a "Mickey Mouse"
clutch dealer which I am wondering if could not perhaps be the problem
The box makes a rumbling sort of sound when hot and while out of gear
The moment I put my foot on the clutch the noise goes away
Also when I change gears there seems to be a bit of a thump underneath somewhere
Could anyone tell me what and where to look
Also is there anywhere I can get the box re-done in the UK
or should I take it over to Germany
A bit of hope would be great right now
    Thanks

I have just acquired an 850csi
which has a normal Bm c/d changer but
unlike the one in my 840
it will not play my own c/d's--only new bought ones
Is there any way I can get this thing altered to take any c/d's
I am in the London area in case someone knows of
an audio specialist I can go to

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Thanks for all the help
    Will get to work
    and let you know

    ps
I have just had a stainless steel exhaust system with sports cats fitted
They have given it a slightly bolder grunt
Sounds Great (very similar to the Aston Martin)

Every time I turn the air con (hot or cold) I get a really bad smell inside the car
I have checked to see if I have a coolant leak but I dont seem to be loosing any
Has anyone had the same sort of problem and have any suggestions where to go next

    Steamy Windows

    Hi Lloyd

    I got the same problem
I have taken mine to a few guys now to no avail
so I'd like to keep in touch with you and swop notes as we go along
I'm sure there is a solution
I do however think the last guy to reply is right and there is a leak somewhere
I say this, however having checked my water level which is not dropping
    Good luck

Does anyone know of an 8 Seies guy down in Brighton
I believe Tall Tony has referred to him onec or twice

Failing that any suggestions for someone in London that knows his 8's

    Jeff

    Exhaust system

    Hi there Adam

I have been going thru the same avenues to find a cheaper solution to replacing the exhaust system other than the "Big Guys"

I have since found a couple of stainless steel guys here in London that will make up a complete system (minus the cats) for you and will get it to sould exactly the way you want it
The one I heard sounded very muvh like the TVR --sounded really good
Total cost 700 to 900 pounds which I think is very good

    Jeff

Steve told me recently that Tall Tony mentioned somewhere there was a good 8 series service in Brighton somewhere
Tony if you read this or if any one else knows his whereabouts I would really appreciate some info

I need to take my 8 to him to sort out the aircon which a couple of guys up in London have not been able to acomplish

    Thanks

    Jeff

    HI there Steve
Just this morning I was thinking of exactly the same thing
Back in SA we used to have a 3monthly Sunday breakfast run down the coast from Durban
There were usually about 100 Bm's (all mixed) and we would meet at the Holiday in where they arranged a breakfast for us
after that we used to have all sorts of competitions such as the best looking etc etc
the guys had quite a few sponsors
But, yeah I think a meet would be great
    U can count me in
If u need any help give me a shout

I have attached a pic of THE BABY I took to Germany

    Jeff

    Hi

I did that and it is showing 35.7l/100km

its not bulls--- either because I can see the gauge going down
physically I used about a 1/4 tank to do 70km

I was hoping you, in your E31 wisdom might have a hint as to what the hell it could be

Do you think I could take it to guys like Super cars iso BM to run thru it
It may be a lot cheaper or

Do you think I should maybe , yet again, just disconnect the battery and let the computor set itself again. Thats the layman in me talking

Hope I can get this sorted

    Jeff

    Hi there Steve

I have another trouble shooter for you

Coming back from Europe I was getting a very good petrol consumtion about 9,7l/100km
Now in the last week it has gone balistic
    35,1l/100km
I can actually see the petrol gauge going down
I checked underneath it dosent seem to be leaking
so what could this now be
could it have something to do with the fact that we have been connecting and discinnecting the battery
I seem to recall getting about 12 to 13l/100km in town
    does that sound right
What do I do now ny good friend

    Jeff

    Hi there

I have to admit that while the going was tough----
    I was a bit peeved
    But !!!
Now that the 8 is going again and I take it for a spin
    once or twice a day

I seem to have forgotten the anguish
When I took her in to have the batteries done a guy from the Auot Carriage Car co next door came over and had a look T IT
