  • 850i engine mystery

    Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and new to chat rooms really. So please bare with me as I try to catch on to chat room do's and don'ts.
    I recently purchased a 91 850 knowing I had to replace the motor. In doing so, I now have it at a shop and for some reason the motor/block I bought to put in the car is missing a component on the oil pump and neither the mechanic nor the nearest BMW dealer can figure out what the part is. It was attached to the oil pump but somehow it looks as if it melted off. Two screws remain where the part used to be and I nor the mechanic or dealership have an idea of what this mystery part is or looks like. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!
