According to my research, most 8-series did not have Servotronic (speed-related assist). However, the 850CSi from 1992, did have Servotronic, which was apparently modified by ///M to give a firmer, more sporty feel. After the CSi, BMW fitted the system as standard to the last generation of 840Ci. The Alpina B12-5.7 also had servotronic.

Servotronic first appeared in the M635CSi in 1989, so it was available at the time of the 8-series. But even so, in the later flagship E38, 7-series, which overtook the 8-series, it only became standard in the last few years of production on the 8-cylinder models and up.
