After 7+ years of ownership it is time to move on!!....

These cars are just starting to creep up in value and finding a genuine loved one is getting hard.
This car was the feature 850 in BMW magazine celebrating the 20th anniversary. (You get a copy of the magazine with the car).

Mileage 165k although she drives like a low mileage car because of all the above work.
Always flys through MOT with no advisories.
As you can appreciate I serviced her myself (qualified engineer with access to a high spec work shop)or at Phoenix motorsport for the suspension work ( the number 1 repair specialists!).
Work was carried out to maintain and improve was where necessary to keep this car looking as good as possible.
There is a little rust in a couple of spots but for a car 21+ years old it’s in great shape. Its does not go to the supermarket so no little trolley dents!
There are probably a few other things I have forgotten about but please ask me any questions..... email..

Gents just a heads up I will be listing the car on the bay tomorrow. I cant remember when I last drove it although I start it regularly. Anyway having been made redundant I need the cash I hope to get at least £4k. Any takers???? Or tips other than a decent ad with good pics.

    There will be tears....

I understand in the last 3 months I have driven mine once and then only 4 miles. Other than that it sits on the drive looking sad. In reality I guess I would get £4k which is just poor considering what you get for the money etc. If I had a safe garage to park it for a few years I would but I worry that I would visit it one day and it would be gone.

Cosmoline is actually quite easily removed via dry ice blasting. Half an hour and it´s gone (currently 100EUR for a "like new" engine compartment here).

    Cheers
    Reinhard

Is there anywhere in the uk ideally the south that offers this?

Good luck Alex, I had no takers on mine at £5995 but the mileage is probably to high for that price on reflection (165k) but with prices begining to creep up I am tempted to lock mine away if only I had a garage. Anyway I will see how you get on before advertising mine again at £5k

We Gerry you were almost right in that it was handbrake shoe related. I took the rear drives side disk off and found that one of the retaining spring loaded pegs ( nto sure of the real name but the fix the shoe mid way to the rear cover plate) had pulled it back through the back plate it was very thin. So it couldnt be fitted and stay in place as the back plate ideally needs to be changed but I guess thats not easy. Alternatively thinking about other car in the past I could use one of the washers that has a slotted centre. Anyway I took both shoes off and pulled out the wedged spring that was rubbing at the bottom. Sound gone! Yes the is a little movement which feels like the bush Nick indicated however it is a very little movement but now on the list of jobs to be done at some point. For now I just need to solve the retaining pin spring thing.
