Nick it is amazing what a good polish with the right stuff can achieve. I recently used wet and dry 3000 on one of my wings as it had picked up several scratches in the laquer and it really came out nice. I am a bit of a detailing nerd and have a shed full of the stuff. If you go onto detailing world forum its amazing some of the stuff.

Sorry Gerry, it looks nicely made but I think it is incongruous.
The original fixing is robust and never subject to any force or natural degradation, how on earth do you guys manage to break them
Nifty I think its because I found and added a BMW cleaning cloth to act as a any rattle device! -
Quality mate unlike the plastic ones. I have replaced mine 3 times in the last few years! Did you machine it to screw into the original insert or replace that to?

I saw that last night along with these.

Spent a couple of hours yesterday with the boot empty and all the interior panels and carpet out. I then removed and refitted and re-cable tied everything I could even removing both speakers and re-fitting etc. Today I drove the car to work and it was silent, a real pleasure.
But like any hobbie another problem / challenge appears and thats the heater/blower which is now not working. Job for Saturday! -
Well done fella -
No 7 is the clip the strap is just a belt and brace in case it comes lose.
-
Indeed I will check the cranking voltage on pin 11 next time the car is nice and hot.

Did you buy the two transparent retaining straps/fixing so if they do come loose they cant fly away.
One end fits into the number plate mount the other end had a s/steel clip that locates into the nose cone. -
Well gents I got up this morning and went to my local stealers and bought the new replacement relay which is now light green Part No B61.36.8.373.700 for the bargain price of £9.70
Once I was back at home I carried out the following test and the findings are below.
I did not check the charging voltage on the old relay but I dont think that would have changed.
With both relays the car started although the voltage at pin 11 was differant.
As always your thoughts are welcome -
Timm that was the voltage as the key was turned i.e. it was 0 volts and the went upto 7.09volts as the key was turned to the start point at which the engine would normally turn over. What is the part number for the K1 relay I will give the stealers a call
-
Timm I got the car nice and warm following a 1hr 30 min drive and 3 mins after the car was stopped on the drive I tried to restart it would not start. I tested pin number 11 on the diagnostic port and it showed 7.09 volts whilst the battery at the charging point showed 11.91volts.
So your thoughts guys. -
Thanks Timm I plan to but is so intermittent that when it does happen its not usually the ideal location. i.e. I can replicate it outside the house. I will try and get the car warm over the weekend so watch this space.
