Alex I dont know to be honest. All this came about after the battery went flat in france and a farmer jump started it for him.

Well you saw the horror I found after 21years in the UK. As Gerry said not a massive job and once checked or even repaired you can smile again. I have only check and repaired one of my sides. I had planned to do the passenger side in prep for Duxford (sorry again guys) as I have replacement covers which I got on ebay 4 years ago for 99p waiting to go on (current ones are chipped etc).
I fear rust as my car for the last 6 years that I have owned it has never seen a garage at night other than a petrol garage that is -
As the title indicates I have a good friend now stranded in france because battery went flat (that a problem but not the main one). He has got the car restarted but has an Engine |Fault message, the engine is running poorly stuttering (limp mode I guess)and speed is limited to 35mph. Its a 2004 6 Series 4.5i

Already reported on the interesting ebay page -
Gents as we are only a week away I thought I would give this a bump. I had planned to spend today giving the car a clean etc but in the times of hose pipe bands what more can I expect... constant rain!!!!. Well I hope the weather gets better for next weekend. Timm are you going to be able to confirm the details of the Mcdonalds meeting point. Also is there anyone else coming from west london.

Revtor and Adrian thank you both, I think like you said Adrian its not for the heater control and thus must be for the gearstick lighting because it is to short to reach. That said where does it connect to them?
-
Revtor what is the purpose of the small connector on the back of the HVAC? I was changing my consol surround and discovered that the small connector was off? It looks like it been off for a long time

BB I had a few trolley dents in that region and on the door and they were all removed without taking the panel off, he dropped the window wacked in a plastic wedge and pushed a tool down and wiggled it and hey presto! He removed them all for £20 as an offer at Bimmerfest a few years ago.
