New Features in WoltLab Suite 6.2: Other Improvements

Images in the List of Recent Activities

With WoltLab Suite 6.1, we already migrated the recent activities to a clean, modern layout. Now we are taking the next step:

• In addition to text content, a preview image is now also displayed.
• File attachments are visible, which offers real added value, especially in image-heavy forums.
• This makes it easier to grasp content at a glance and classify it visually.

Revised Popovers

Popovers provide a small preview or additional information when hovering over links. With the update, they have been given a revised layout:

• Content is displayed more clearly and attractively.
• New customization options for developers make it easier to tailor the design to individual requirements.

Snackbar Confirmations

Previous confirmations for actions had their weaknesses: they overlapped information displayed at the top and were difficult to handle when there were multiple notifications. That's why we redesigned them from scratch.

• New position: bottom left, accompanied by a subtle sliding animation.
• Multiple display: Up to three notifications at a time, with older ones being automatically replaced.
• Progress bars: Supports notifications that remain visible until a process is complete and optionally display progress.

The result: an unobtrusive, modern, yet informative solution.

Font Awesome 7

The upgrade to Font Awesome 7 brings thousands of new and updated icons.

• Thanks to our compatibility layer, the upgrade is seamless.
• Existing customizations or plugins remain functional without any additional effort.

Revision of Rich Embeds

Embedded links — known as rich embeds — have also been fundamentally revised:

• Content is regularly updated in the background to automatically retrieve changes.
• Images are saved as optimized thumbnails, which saves storage space and reduces loading times.
• Optionally, graphics can be completely deactivated – only the title and a short text excerpt are then displayed.

Further Improvements Briefly Presented

• Popovers for CMS articles
  Links to CMS articles now support the display of a corresponding popover.
• File attachments in responses to reviews
  File attachments can now also be used in reviews.
• Security prompt when disabling threads
  The security prompt is intended to prevent the accidental deactivation of threads containing a lot of posts.
• reCAPTCHA V3
  reCAPTCHA has been updated to version 3.
• X login via OAuth2
  Third-party login via X (formerly Twitter) is now based on OAuth2.
• Password strength display extended
  Password strength is now also optionally displayed in forms based on FormBuilder that use PasswordFormField.
• Display of subforums possible via setting
  The display of reduced subforums is now possible again via a setting in the configuration.
• Improved UI of the user panel
  The icon and font sizes in the user panel have been optimized.
• Simplified style export
  When exporting styles with custom templates, the export of templates is now preselected.
• Improved mobile menu in the admin panel
  The mobile version of the admin panel menu now displays icons.
• Improved member list UI
  The display in the member list and user popovers has been optimized and is now better suited for displaying additional information and buttons.
• Display of various boxes in the sidebar revised
  The display is now more clearly structured and has been standardized overall.
• Use of icons standardized
  The use of icons for repetitive operating concepts has been standardized and optimized.
• Direct link to cron job log
  The cron job list now contains a direct link to the log of the respective cron job.
• Improved UI for creating polls
  The management of responses for a poll has been improved.
