Fully working OBD for sale with all pixles working

  • Note that this MID is for right-hand drive E31. While it will work just fine in a left-hand drive E31, the middle group of buttons will be swapped (ie pressing [CHECK] will give you [CONSUM]). Someone with a LHD E31 could fix this by putting the RHD MID internals into the old LHD MID enclosure...

  • Hi Revtor

You mean it is better for a UK or Australian or Japanese Car (Right-hand) ? but can be adapted for European Left-hand drive.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Antonin: Compare these two pictures from a German and UK MID:

(picture taken from Timm's great website - meeknet.co.uk)

It's not just the language on the buttons that is different, if you look carefully the middle group of buttons is reversed in the UK MID. I'm clueless as to why BMW made this chance (because the display message & clock area, and number & clock buttons did not reverse), but if you put the right-hand drive MID in a left-hand drive car, the buttons will have different meaning from their labels. Since the RHD [CHECK] button is in place of the LHD [VERBR/CONSUM] button, pressing the [CHECK] button will give you the average fuel consumption on the display.

This can be changed in several ways. Either put the RHD MID internals in your own LHD MID enclosure, carefully swap the buttons as Fatandre's friend did, or recode the EKM/MID to right-hand drive.
