    I have been talking to PhoenixMotorsport with a view to getting my car
    re-mapped for more performance and the subject of a group buy came up.


    They can do around 25hp gains to an 840 for £250 or around 35hp gains to an 850 for £350
    provided we can get 10 of us together to qualify for this price. The speed
    limiter comes off the 840 in the price, the limit removal on 850's is £150
    more. Any car can be tuned with a 48h turn-around as all that is needed is
    the DME (s) (1 on 840, 2 on 850) off your 8,( plus the EML for the 850 de-limit.)


    Normal price is £350 for the 840 and £500 for the 850 so this represents a
    really good deal!! Payments would be made direct to Phoenix via Paypal or cheque.

    About the same HP per pound gain either way. I've been thinking about a supercharger myself but by then my outlay would be quite a bit more and with that kind of performance I'd like it to go round corners as well! I already have a bike (Vmax) that can straight line to 100mph in 6 seconds a supergharger is going to make my wallet even lighter, the bike performs better and costs less so I think the chip is a better option...

    The only differance with your argument is the pace of the car after chipping :!:


    If you want to go faster you will have to spend serious money, £300 ish will make you feel like you want believe there is an improvement just to justify the work,ask me how i know this :? but if you'd rather find out yourself go for it 8)

    John ,I've been down the chipping route, claimed bhp increases Torque curve improved & hey ho better drivability :shock:


    While I was on an extended weekend trip to civilisation :) i checked into a tunning specialist at Silverstone, they fitted the superchip ,rolling roaded the car gave me a print out,took £325 off me, & away i went eager to test my new steed :?


    Disapointed ,you bet, but because you feel you have tried to improved it, you then start telling yourself," hey don't mess with me I've chipped my car"That was my point, probably just trying to assist you guys in saving some hard earned cash :wink:

    Steve, You got me between the devil and the deep blue sea on this one now. I understand where you're coming from but at the same time I trust phoenix, I have delt with them before and believe they are professional and honest. I doubt they would make claim unless they were sure. Could it be that you just had a bad experience? What did the printout you were given show?

    Don't get me wrong on this,I'm not questioning the work of phoenix ms :wink: just the idea of slipping in a micro chip & instantly every one ahas a fearsome firebreathing chariot :D


    In my humble opinion Chipping is something that needs to be done after some serious engine work to correctly set up the timing /fuel/air ratios, to chip a standard engine,the process can only tweek a little bit here & there it will show a Bhp improvement,look at it this way, how many boy racers fit a SS exhaust claimed to give a 10/12 bhp improvement, sure it sounds good but on paper they actually dont go any faster :shock:


    Look aso at the modern day tdi diesel Bmws, hell they are quicker than most petrol engined cars,the "chipping" of the Turbo controls is way different to stock settings same for Supercharging.


    I am not a fan ,remain very sceptical,try & talk to someone who has a car with a standard engine that has been down this route :? I'm no expert but older & wiser than i was 10 yrs ago :D:lol: so i would say go for it & prove me wrong,rolling road the car before & after it is the only way :!:

    Gerry at Phoenix Knows what he's doing, Chipping your 8 will make the car feel 500 Pounds lighter + Better intake sound/great mid power, A chip and a LSD are fantastic "IMMEDIATE" noticeable upgrades for the 8, You will be happy afterwards!

    Wayne, Unfortunately the £350 is only on if we can get enough people involved.


    I think I may need to go ahead with mine in any case, I have modified enough cars to be able to judge any worthwhile difference. One thing is for sure, I'll be brutally honest afterwards.


    I've had the LSD done and I'm very pleased with that, If as ///M Turbo (sorry, don't know your name) indicates the chipping is equally noticeable then we're on a winner for sure!
