Friend of mine just told me that the e31 has been put into the classic section and the prices of parts from the dealer will go up.
Is that true?
Has BMW put the e31 onto the classic section?

He is correct.
The germans (the other forum) are in making a list of often needed parts to let BMW classics know what is needed often...
-
This means prices will also go up :O
-
Ugh
As if they are not already overpriced
-
Wasnt there huge concern last year they wouldnt do this, meaning parts would simply dry up? Isnt this a good thing?
-
Is it? I really dont know what this means?

There was a sell out from BMW (you still find some sellers on ebay selling those parts). Some parts have been very cheap. But all is sold and you have to accept the higher prices now.

I am not sure, but I suspect that not all past BMW models make it to Classic status, which I guess is quite an achievement for the e31, given that it was apparently never a very favoured model of BMW and has been left out of many model line-ups.
I'd find it a shame though, if many perfectly good parts will have to be destroyed in order reduce the stock so that it can transfer to BMW Classic. -
it deffinately seems like it should have classic status looking at the amount of parts cropping up that are no longer available....
not sure why the parts should go up in price unless they have to re-locate the parts to a different warehouse??

See the bright side of it gents, the secondhandparts will be higher in price, so they must pay more for damaged cars, so our cars will be worth much more in the short future!
