Dear all
It has been a long time since I ever wrote in this greetforum, well I sold my CSI because the engine wanted some major strip down asthe piston rings were weak etc…., after selling the car for some time I discoveredthat cannot live without having an 8 series around!, so I decided to buy oneand found a nice example (840ci Y98) which was imported from Japan with all Mtech extra’s, having in my mind that this car is less powered than the CSI, I decidedto supercharge the car with ESS supercharger kit and I did convert the car fromauto to manual with light fly wheel and performance clutch upgrade from UUC motorwerks moreover I did change the camshaft profilepurchased from VAC motorsport (264/262) together with upgrading the LSD differential ratio to 3:45,canceled the engine fan and installed EVO sport pulley’s together with plasmacoils, to cut the long story short withthe list of modification I ended up with car which has 398hp on wheels. To everyonewhich was involved in the project were happy with result except me, the powergain did not meet my expectation and I kept driving the car for the last two yearsthinking for alternative plan, until the time came when I have found a 2001 alpina6.0 engine in perfect condition. I have thought of changing the head’s with 4valve cylinder from McLaren but unfortunately the resources and logisticslimited my search and I conclude that the only way to reach my target with 600hpis to go with force injection (supercharge), I have seen two kit’s available inthe market, one from a guy called john in DC and the other one from 8tech,which I tried to reach both with no success.
Can anyone from the forum advise me if any of those kits arestill available in the market? I would like to install air to liquidapplication intercooler instead of air to air, any advice will be much appreciatedon the maximum pressure I would go on this type of engine as the compression ratiois 10:25
Above is open for discussion and thank you in advance foryour contribution to this project:).
Regards

Both John and 8tech are guys who respond so I find this quite suprising.
I dont know if 8tech has a kit, but John has onehttps://sites.google.com/a/its…net/boostedlogic/products
What car are you planning on superchargin and do you have pics of the 840?
-
will my attempts to get in touch with them has been for sometime (a week or so), hopefully will get some answers for my quez, i will be replacing the current engine (v8) with the alpina and will be using the same gearbox which i have purchased from an M5.
i do not have any photos at the moment but i will be uploading something by tomorrow if everybody else is intersted.

So you will be running a v8. I thought you were talking about the v12.
John and (tech moth work on the v12 -
not a v8, its alpina v12

You bought a whole Alpina or is it only going to be an engine swap?
I am higly interested in seeing what you will do.
YOu should try posting this here. Maybe you will get more response -
it will be only an engine swap, thanks for the tip will try to do so

John's site is http://www.boostedlogic.com you will find contact details there.
I spoke with him yesterday, so he is around, though he recently moved to Switzerland and just started a new job so he does have his hands full at the moment.
We are in the process of perfecting my engine map at the moment so we talk regularly. -
thank you dear, he is in contact now, how is your car in general?
-
Reasonably quick, at the moment about 5 sec 0-100km/h (4-speed auto), still has a little to go before the map is perfect.
We have been doing this remotely over the last two weeks, using remote desktop and a wideband O2 logger.
I have sent results after test runs and John has remotely adjusted my map from Switzerland.
At the moment the air fuel mix is where we want it to be, and next is to look at the timing to get a nice even power curve.
Due to both of us having things to do we are now at a pause in the tuning, so the final result will be in the near future, sometime this summer.
Target is power is 470hp and about 600nm. -
that is not easy task when it comes to programing specially by doing it remotely, 470hp is an achievable figure good luck with your aim and well done so far for both you,
