Hi all
Was there a big difference between the european cars we have and those sold in the middle east? would my uk car survive the heat? etc?

The main differences have to do with cooling and also petrol quality.
Most (if not all) cars for the Gulf region have been delivered catless with motor electronics to match since some of those countries still seem(ed) to offer leaded petrol (only).
In the E31 you would also find an additional engine (oil) cooler as in the CSi and a thermostat with a lower opening temperature.
Can´t remember anything else just nowHeat is as much a problem to anything rubber & leather as the "desalinated" but still salty water is in terms of accelerated depreciation of metal quality.
Be made aware that if you plan to take your car down there you´ll be having the steering wheel on the wrong side
Cheers
