I think this showroom post is great , but to long between new threads..
I'm sure there are plenty of nice cars out there, that would make great threads !
Anyway , i painted my engine covers , and will show you the finish work .
First i painted it all flat black, but the engine, kind of disappeared ...
Then i combined it with the white crystal pearl that i have on the car , but with a flat finish.
I think it came out pretty good ..;-)

Nice job. hope I can make mine look that nice.

So nice, very up to date & similar to the new V8 engine covers, like to share the secret how you get the raised profile on top so neat?
-
Sure you can Egil
The "big" secret stevep840 , is to paint the whole cover finish with the color you want , mask a little on the sides of the stripes (to protect when you sand it) then use a dual action sanding machine , and sand the paint on the stripes/bmw logo , (as they are higher) down to the black plastic .
Then re clear the whole thing.. in my case flat/mat clear -
Thanks, I did similar on my V12 cover
but yours looks more proffesional

I decided to do mine a few years ago because it was full of the yellow cosmoline. When I removed the cosmoline the cover became matte black/gray in some areas.
The plan was to paint it gloss black, with silver stripes, and I have been thinking a lot on how to do that. And thought I had to do the whole thing black, then apply the silver and then clear on top of that.
For various reasons I haven't been able to do this yet, maybe this winter -
Very nice job!! Think i might do mine too, really lifts the engine bay!! Top job!!!
-
If you want the stripes an other color than black, i think you have a big masking job ahead of you.. unless you are a master of pin striping...;-)
But i think a clean and shiny engine bay is something to be proud of.. like rest of the lovely 8 -
Glad you liked it , thanks TD

Looking good. It really makes it look so more better.
How is it to drive with that supercharger? How fast are you? -
Nice job I love a tidy engine bay..

Thanks Lloyd .

Fatandre.
With the SC it is much stronger , should be 411hp (have not measured it)
This is a complete kit from ESS Tuning in Norway, and it's for daily driving , so there is no hick ups.
But it was not before i swap the 2.93 diff for a 3.91 LSD it really came to live, that made a BIG difference ..
And after i put in the 6 speed manual transmission , it is even more funny to drive.;-)Did some timing before i mounted the manual , think it was a little over 5 seconds to 100kph and 17 seconds to 200kph..
