Main Dealer Coventry

  • Hi All
Well what an experience i have just had with Messers Godfrey Hall BMW main dealer in Coventry. I have been using them for over 4 years now and been a regular customer having all my services and work done there. Recently i had an inspection 1 done in July of this year, it was diagnosed that i needed a track rod and new ball joint on the drivers side and whilst at it i may as well have the both done. Which i did. Since then i have done some 3000 miles in the car and noticed still i was getting steering wheel judder. This Sunday i went to my MDs house to go to the Truck Fest at Haydock Park when he noticed that both tyres had a 3in wear on the iside of the tyres.the passengers side down to the canvass. I limped home and rang Godfrey Hall the next morning. I wanted to know if there be any mention of tyre wear there was but only slight due to the power steering the technician said so i went higher and spoke to Mr Tony Sweeney the Ops Director. He went straight on the defensive and said i was looking for reconpense i suppose i was because of the fact that the tyres had been scrubbed after the two new track rods had been fitted He also said i was being economicsl with the truth and did not want my business any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I then went into overdrive and told him that this was dispicable and if any thing had of happened to me he would be looking at far more serios situation. He then said again that he did not want to dao any more busines with me and hung the phone up I was livid and took the car to a specialist in Rugby to have the tracking checked and the kds done They found that the tracking was 5mm out which thay said could bauld new tyres in 6 weeks. I have spoken to Godfrey Hall himself and reiterated my anger and dismay He is looking into the matter

Well what do you think of this situation lads I would like Tee to comment please as it is not over by a long chalk

  • This is not on!!

Look on your receipt Phil. Does it have a cost charged for tracking??
If you replace the track rods you MUST do the tracking, which was obviously not done.

I warn you now though, they will try to tell you, "you must have hit a kerb or pothole which put the tracking out"

How long between having the tracking done and this problem now?

Thanks for your rapid reply and yes it does say the tracking was done This was in July and yes they are saying everything that you have mentioned What redress i have got

  • PHIL

keep the preasure up on the top man, tell him your prepared to go to what lengths either to sort this out between yourselves or cause harm to the reputation of his business.

get a report from the firm who corrected the work, are in the aa or rac etc any vehicle inspectors you might now, surely if as they aledge you bashed into the kerb you'd have damaged alloys?, or even bent steering componants, in my exprience the garage would agree to compensate you in order to try and protect their image.

keep working on the boss, fax him or deliver in person any reports you've got , make him fully aware how you you were treated with utter contempt and a total disrespect by his staff if all else fails try the local paper but do'nt give in.

next use someone else!!!!!!!!!!!!!! joshin best luck steve

Those who risk nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing.

  • How bad is that!?!?

One of my friends (who owns a 5 series) had his serviced a few weeks ago and when he went to pick it up, found it was gone!

Apparantly the "cousin of the owner" had come to pick up her car after its service and the dealership had given them the wrong car...

So they now have no idea where the car is, keys and all.

Consider yourself lucky you have the car!! :?

  • Sytner Coventry

    Hi

I Know my reply might be late as i have not been on line for a while.
I have been with sytner for 3 years now and spent a large sum of money keeping my 850 CSI on the road and had lots of problems with the service department as follows.
    1) Undertaking work with permission and trying to charge me for it.
    2) Damaging parts while removing and expecting me to pay.
    3) Delays in parts delivery loosing the car for more time that stated.
    4) Palming me of with minis for coutesy cars.
    5) Over zealous inspections, stating parts need replacement when they only recently replaced them.
    6)Overcharging
But i can honestly say that even with all that the department i hated most and finished me with BMW, was their customer services, they could not give a flying F**k about your problems.
I have now found a new guy in Rugby who is considerably cheaper than BMW and does a good job, and whats more is only a 2 minute walk from where i work.
