What about 1000+HK 1500NM on a CSI

  • Here is a tread i came over i Norway where a guy took a CSI enginine and throwed it into a E34 after modifing a bit :ahhhhh:

Look a at this video at the ond of this tread where the engine is testet
    Its just sick.

    http://www.bilforumet.no/andre…ing-1249hk-1588nm-86.html

Claims to have reached 1249HK-1588NM at the end of this build ( still using the original Getrag gearbox different clutch )

Some pix here , but two different builds on the same engine , first a twin turbo the a single i believe.

  • I have done some research on this issue (well, not an issue.. :P) There were two engines. The first one was the Twin Turbo you mention, he sold that engine for 125000 NOK and replaced it with a single-turbo (!) S70 engine. The numbers you are thinking of is from that last engine huldra, at 1.2 bar if i recall he managed the numbers you mention. In the first engine he used the stock auto without an issue..!
EDIT: At the exterior picture there the single-turbo engine is installed. I'll find some more pics.

I have been looking into turboing my own 8, and his work (the TT that is) is very inspirational.

  • The TT E34 has been around for a few years. A number of impressive videos exists. Regardless whether the dyno was miles out of spec during the measurement or the gearbox specced for 560NM only - the result is more than impressive.
One should not expect a long engine life out of such results - I assume the engine at full boost will be good for a few seconds before the pistons start to melt.
TT´s with somewhere above 500HP have been in existence for near 20 yrs now and are proven to last. Most experiments to mimic the Dinan setup be it with Turbo´s or other forced induction have not led to the desired results though and have been plagued with problems.

On the other hand... most E31 owner´s these days rather keep their "precious" in one piece rather than blasting it to smithereens on the quarter mile track. 300 or 700 HP does not make that much a difference if you´re cruising with 90 kph ;)

  • That was my conclusion as well ;)

The owner of this one did drive it as a daily driver for over a season, though.

  • there is one here in Norway with an Albrex kit (will be one of my new neighbors soon).
They are no longer available, power is reasonable, 440hp, and the consumption is terrible, I think that may be down to the fact that it does not have MAF's and run of a table based on temperatures.
I think 500hp is enough, and see no need for more.

Some kit's have been plagued with issues, but that is mostly because those who have made them either lacked the knowledge, or did not have the tools needed to make it work properly, and depended on others.

Also note that there are two e34's in Norway, one M5 by VS motor, and this does not have a V12.
Then there is this one, with the S70 engine, both cars are the same colour so easily mixed.
