Have to say, 18" Alpinas are still the best solution in my book, closely followed by 19" Hartge Classics and then the original Schnitzers - like the ones on Tee's beast.
looking for a set alpina wheels not sure how much to pay

Yes, I agree that the Alpinas look best, but am undecided between the Originals and the Softines. Currently I have the former, but will try the latter.

anyone interested in making me an offer for my two piece CSi Turbine Alloys ? Good condition all round.
I'm thinking of selling because a set of diamond cut 5 spoke (new) M6 alloys have caught my attention. Need to make up the difference though
what do you think ?

these, and the Reiger Air vents in the front wings like SteveP's woold look great in my opinion. Not tacky, but then I would be the 'beholder'........
-
Be carefull Tony, they are only copies not original as they would have to be 19s, but i do like them
-
I have also seen 19s in this style for sale thru ebay a while back, and he could supply wider rears too. Whole package would be around £1200. Again I think they are copies too. Are copies a sproblem ?
Would need to seriously check them out for fitments and offset prior to taking the plunge. Saw real ones a brand new M6 at a petrol station last month and they did look fantastic. The owner of this car didnt really know what to make of my car though....... (but then he was a bit of a yuppie !)
-
Just a thought... Have a look at these... Available in 10" also for the rear's
-
Copies are OK but some are prone to wheel viberations/balance issues

Zitat von schnitz850
These are the Alpina softline. These particular ones are for the E39, 5-series and so will need hub rings to reduce the 74.6mm wheel spiggot diameter to 72.6mm for the E31. Also they have ET20 front and ET24 rear offsets, which will benefit from 10mm and 15mm spacers to get them back to roughly ET10/ET12 of the standard E31 wheels. This will add about £180 to the price, as I've done this for my car with H+R spacers.
Be aware that BMW orininal wheels, particularly Alpina and ///M-sport are made of forged alloy, while nearly all replicas are cast, hence the price difference. But casting produces a far weaker wheel. Some cast replicas have thicker spokes than the original to try to compensate, but the quality is not the same.
-
Thanks for info regarding copies. Under normal driving conditions I guess cast ones would be fine as I'm not a racer, but I'll probably pay the extra for forged for piece of mind. (too many Fs in that sentence).
Still have a set of cast 17s AMG style wheels that I bought for my old C Class, 4 years ago and these are fine. They now sit hilariously on my VW Transporter after a few modifications.
Anyway, back to the job in hand..... These ones are available in 19s, wider rears. Presumably the 'prestige' tag indicates forged BMW originals ? (odd language on this post eh ?)

My car will[i] be fitted with this type of wheel sooner or later..... ! ha ha

Tony i would be interested in your 17" CSi wheels.
Please let me have your email address

smart indeed
I notice that they are all 285 width though ? Not sure if that's ok as I'm on 235s athe the front right now. What do you think ?
-
Thats very odd, if interested i'd ask the seller to confirm because they're obviously too big for our front fitment, maybe he does not really know as he has also said that the wheels have 4 bolt holes!!!!
-
At the stealers today there actually was a secondhand M6 on the forecourt - (55reg and a snip at 67K....)
Anyway, checked the wheels out obviously and they are indeed 285 at the rear as we know already, but are 255 at the front. Also, they are ABSOLUTELY HUGE. I'm sure it's not an optical illusion and the overall diameter is much bigger, there is no way they would fit in my wheel arches, not a chance at that size.... Or am I wrong ?
Replicas may be the only way for this style after all ?
Cheers
Tony

They might be running a bigger sidewall!! i.e. 40 /45 series tyre as opposed to a 35 tyre which we need for ours....
-
hi, the full size of the front tyres was 255/35, on 19" rims. I think there are too big to be honest
Plus the discs are highly visible, which is fine if you have the monster discs of the M6 but I think mine would look a little sad behind the spokes of these 19s.....
-
Size isn't everything. As my wife keeps telling me
-
My fronts are 245/35x19 using 10mm spacers & all is well, so i do not see why 255/35 wont fit just buy the wheels then the bigger discs Sorted

All is not well with mine.... refering to my other thread about the noise coming from the rear of the car. Had the shocks of today looking for seizures etc. Packed everything up with grease and reinstalled and no change to situation. Rattles, knocks and creaks galore. Since I'm expecting a rather large repair bill to bring it back to normal, once it finally gets to the dealers, I'm simply gonna have to hold off spending a grand on wheels right now - of course this is only temporary and if the news is good and it's only shock mounts that are goosed then I'll be ok. Going to buy the full set of Bilsteins this week and get them fitted regardless, but they'll take a while to be delivered.
Really p*ssed off today as I've spend the best part of 2 days trying to isolate the noises and to no avail. The joy of 8.... and I've only had on a year
