  • Hello Andreas,

It shouldn't break acoording some tuners I've ask, so I'll see.

But when is does, I can order a updated gearbox with garantee till 850 BHp.

But it's still early to tell what will or not will go well/

At this moment all is going well, but next week I'll change my 395S diff for the normal 315, because I get nervious now when I drive.

  • i have heard that it can break after 400hp?!
how much do you think that the car will manage to put out?

Do you know how much the 850hp gearbox would cost?

    cheers

  • What I've heard is more than 450BHp, but who shall say?
It also depends how you use the extra BHp.

The 850 gearboxe cost about 3500 Euro's and you must give them your gearbox.

  • I've heard that the stock box is bulletproof.
Remember the Alpina 5.7 had 416, and the Hartge H8 had something like 430-450hp.
Think the user John in DC had a twin turbo setup around 600hp for more than 2 years on the stock 4-speed auto box.
But it all depends on how you drive it, if you keep doing burnouts and doughnuts all the time anything will break.....

if you drive it normal I dont see that the stock one should break, ever with 500+hp.

  • Yesterday we have made some changes on the blowoff-valves, because when I give a little bit of gas, it didn''t run smoodly.

But as we expected, it''s not that but a fault in the DME''s.

They have programmed it we think in the toughts that the power will come smoothly divided at all rpm''s, so they give to much petrol than.
    (It also smells like it).

So the must do there job again, saddly.

But the nice thing is that we can do the a rollerbanktest at the same time.

Further there''s not a problem, it drive''s for so 1500k without any problems.

Hopefully I will have time to go to them the comming weeks.

    :devilchilli:

I bring my gearbox to ZF in Germany and the have made a full revision.
I ask the people there if 450-500 is a problem and they say no, it only wornout quicker.
When I say that there is a guy with 600 on it they smile, that was more than they think that the gearbox could do.
And still so, the gearbox won''t break on 600, but the "" Wandlerkupplung"" they aren''t sure of.
Good thing is: they have made a stronger version, costs 700 Euro''s, that one will do the trick they say.

  • my experience in mechanical engineering is that everything is buildt to handle at least 150% of the maximum.
So the gearbox in an 850 should manage 450hp without any problems or excess wear.
If you put 600 on it it will wear quicker, but I dont think you will have a breakdown after 1000km. it may last 50.000km instead of 150-200.000km.
And then you reinforce it when you overhaul it.

My box (and car) has now done 142.000km, I thought I had a problem with it but it turned out to be low oil level, now it's as good as new again.
And my car has had 355hp and a 3.45 rear diff since 1991 and 18.000km.

We put the car on the testbank, but lost immeadiatly most of the pressure because of a leakage somewhere we couldn't reach easy.
Still left fast 0,2 bar pressure, but that's not 0,6....

  • Thanks Dick! Very cool!,

how do you re-programm the DMEs? Do you know the details of the EPROMS? I where what data is stored where? How the data is accessed (the location on the EPROM)?

What I mean is, do you know the location, for example, of the ignition timing table (and the other data)?
That would tremendeously help me out!!

    Thanks! ;)
