UK-spec 850CSi for £6,995?

    If someone in the UK is looking to pick up a relatively inexpensive two-owner 850CSi with over 140k miles for £6,995, then this might be your chance.

    Candidly, I am skeptical based on other 850CSi pricing within the UK.

    Sometimes an 850i gets advertised as an 850CSi. However this one does state that it has a 6-speed 'box and a 5.7 (should be 5.6) engine.

    If the dealer bought it cheaply because the owner didn't know what they were selling, then it could happen. (I was once offered an 840Ci at half the going rate in similar circumstances.)


    However, with that milage it was probably in daily use, which will probably make it a nice, little restoration project for someone.

    This car has this low production interior. Out of 1,510 850CSi's produced, only 116 came with the upholstery: LEDER NAPPA/SILBERGRAU (0496/N4SL)

    • 82 - S70 850CSi LHD Euro
    • 13 - S70 850CSi LHD North America

    Worldwide, there are 6 850CSi's in this colour combination. Five are in the USA and the remaining one is in the UK (subject car). If anyone decides to purchase this car, it will be the only Euro 850CSi RHD/LHD in this colour combination.

    AHK/Servotronic are "STANDARD" features with the EURO 850CSi (not USA for AHK). They are not shown as PAID OPTIONS on the build sheet. In other words, if you ordered a EURO 850CSi, you would automatically get with this model AHK. Now, if we ordered a 1993 M70 850CiA and wanted AHK, then that would show up at Option code 237 - Dynamic Drive in the options list.


    Beginning in late 1996, BMW began publishing the "model options" for its cars. BMW then shifted NO COST PAID OPTIONS, like option code 537, over to "STANDARD FEATURES" Series Options. Later build sheets would explicitly show the Euro 850CSi features over and above the base Euro 850Ci, which would look like this:

    Seems like the car is in fairly good condition. The engine-bay could do with clean-up, but noting borken or missing, and the interior seems in quite good nick, with no obvious damage to the seats. The bonnet is still original (air-con sticker) so probably no major accidents.


    Even when purchasing a lower mileage example at over twice the price, as other's have found, many things like suspension, brakes and exhaust will most likely still need attention. So, here seems an opportunity to buy a bargain.
