Mine are leaking all over the place, been kinda looking the otherway on it and topping up the Pentosin, but guess I have to deal with it soon. I know a great workshop that can make up custom high pressure hose, but they would need the originals to replicate. If I jack it up and take off the originals, fluid will spew everywhere and the car will be grounded..
So has anyone got either an old set of the underbody AHK hoses (with the metal fittings) I can borrow or know the metal thread sizes etc? Also, anyone else need some too, we could get multiple sets made and save some cash?
The parts that really look bad are (The RealOEM diagram is absolutely terrible):
#1
#4
Dont know where #5 or #3 goes in the diagram or on the car, but they look up and out of the way of water (rust is the issue here, not rubber degradation).
In this diagram, the piping that goes into #19 (presumably #1 and #4 above) seems to be leaking through #19 (specifically #21).
Also, my car didnt have the shield fitted (#17), got one now ready to go on.
Finally, looks like the filter is serviceable in the AHK pump (#3 and #4)... interesting.
PS: Click the links to see the out of this world price BMW pumps on crappy hoses.
Anyone got specs of AHK piping? Behold the great money sink!

Talked to the BMW Garage, they are looking for EUR350 for the 2 little pipes. Surely someone has seen them off the car or has an old one from a previous replacement that I could check the metal threading from?
-
I believe I have a good set of pipes in my shop in the UK, you don't even need to have new ones made up. Can't confirm that until I get back to the UK on 22 March, can you wait till then?
-
That depends how how much $$ we are talking! PM me a guideline if you can.
thanks,

What about 100.00 GBP?
Came off a Csi with 66k kilometers on it.£100 is fine if they are in good nick as described. Why were they removed to begin with though? :p
Any chance you could get someone else to throw them in the post for me?

They were from the platform for the rebuilt B12 5.7 Alpina so were surplus. Regretfully I am the only one with access to my shop and none of our other staff would know what they were looking for. As I remember they were in great shape. Also can do a very young 850Csi engine and manual gearbox.

I had a the same problem, turned out to be 6mm brake pipe i reused the ends but they are easy enough to get new & i had the flexy pipes made by an Automotive hydraulic pipe manufacturer who makes goodridge pipe type of stuff, when i explained what i wanted they understood straight away & made the pipes up with compression unions to the 6mm pipe ends ! Cost @ 18+vat each & they look nice under there. Also replaced flow pipe from front to back got it from BMW @ 25 + vat came in a coi, & it was'nt hard to fit or so the wife said afterwards.

In my case I want to do it all in one sitting. Also the metal ends (which I need the threads off) are badly rusted, I assume the leakage is from them as the rubber piping looks ok.

They are only £200 the pair in the UK.
Glad we didn't get shafted with the Euro!

My price includes 21% VAT.

Umm, you have that quite backwards.. your pricing merely looks cheap as sterling has fell in value and Euro increased, when that price was set, £200 was over 300 Euro..
In my case pre-Euro we had our own currency (ie not the GBP) anyhow, I would have been converting to either DM or GBP with any car parts purchase. Clearly that would not have been better from any way you cut it.
Now I can buy parts from the UK cheap!
-
Nope, it is cheap because £200 is 220 Euro, not 350.
yep, so even back then, 350 Euro was more than £200, and they weren't £200 back then either, they were cheaper. So if they are now 350 Euro, thats £317.53. Well over 50% more than in the UK.
So, you can get them cheaper in the UK, my point exactly, you're stuffed by the Euro, just not quite as stuffed as before.

I see what you are trying to say, but ponder me this:
The statement makes no sense unless you are comparing a UK domestic product vs my Import Price and said fictional UK product has increased in cost to me but stayed the same to you... but infact the opposite has happened, I can buy more Sterling with my Euro than ever before. Whats to stop me buying from the UK?In fact I think you have unwittingly proven the opposite, I'm now in the position to buy the product from the UK at lower relative cost than ever before.
Its great, we go to the UK and buy your cars, you are happy with the trade, we are happy with the cheap (to us, nothing changed to you guys) cars and parts. Nice one, I love being stuffed with cheap UK goods. -

I was quoted @ £120 each + vat for the flexy pipes from my local branch !

Using my VAT rate (21%) and converted to Euro thats EUR320. Using the exchange rate from start of Feb thats EUR367 (yes, more than my local price)... can anyone else confirm the dealer price in the UK? If the UK prices are as low as Gerry says, I would be all on for sourcing my stuff there.
-
33341138074 & 33341138072 both cost 111 EUR incl. 19% VAT locally. Discount group is "C" which ought to be around 10%, hence final price for the dealer is around 100 EUR taxed per hose.
You can try and get in touch with Patrick Kluge from Cuntz (BMW Alpina Dealer). Shipping for those two pipes to Ireland ought to be in the 30 EUR range. If he refuses to speak English I can help but the price given by Gerry - if including taxes - is about the same anyway.
Cheers

Thanks Reinhard, though I have since tried a different BMW contact and got a price of EUR200 for both inc 21% VAT, in my hands. Ill wait to see what Peter comes up with tomorrow before making the order however.

The car is out of commission as I await some bushings to be pressed into rear wishbones, so I took the opportunity to replace 2 of the AHK filters (one in tank in front and small one in AHK Charging unit in trunk).
I also cleaned off the pipes and took off the lower cover to see where its leaking exactly.
I looks like its only leaking (weeping would be a better word) through the horribly rusted pipe on the right, under the car:
There are 3 pipes that could rust.
- Far left one is fairly thick and still ok.
- Middle is painted black and totally fine (why, why cant BMW paint all the lines under the car?)
- Far right one is the thinnest one and rust attacked it from all sides. Even without the engine running you can see fluid bubble through the actual pipe (it not at the fittings like I thought).
This means that the parts I thought I needed are fine, if Im reading this rubbish Diagram correctly its Hose #5:
As seen here (part 3 here, "Pressure Inlet from Pump")
Anyhow, thought you guys might be interested to see rust at work and as usual point me in the right direction if Im going astray.
