    Terje, Egil,

we will visit those places? I'd love to...:top:

    Fabrice

picture 1 and 2 is the pulpits rock.
We will pass under it on the ferry on Saturday, if you want to climb it we can make arrangements on Monday after the meeting.
We will not have time during the meeting, as we will have to drive 2-3 hours from the camping on Sunday to get to that area.

Also it's quite a climb (1-2hours) so we did not include anything like this in the program as we expected attendants to be of various age and health.

Not sure where picture 3 is from, may be just behind the camping, or it may be in the opposite end of the fjord.

From where we will eat our dinner you can walk to "Kjerag", but that is a 5 hour round trip, I did it almost two years ago and trust me, its not a walk in the park.

You may read more about the area here in your own language.

Sounds like i will have to come back! Unfortunatly i can't stay up to monday i will have to leave on sunday.

    Fabrice:driver:

Well... you could go on Friday and skip the museums, I think there is a boat from the city of stavanger that takes you there, and you can then walk up to the pulpits rock, and return with the boat later in the afternoon.

A little teaser here showing the camping, area around and also the road we will recomend to take back on Sunday if you are going back to Ferry in Kristiansand , Sweden, or east of Norway.

Long video shoot by some MC dudes, but look at 2 min to 9 minutes that would be relevant

No luckily that's the east of Norway , we actually have nice weather  strange enough.

Sad that you had to cancel your planned meeting , but guess your on for next year :)

  • I did some reading yesterday on Norwegian traffic rules and it sounds horrible.
5km/h over speed limit are already being punished, fines are outrageous and cops / radar traps all over.
    Is it really that bad?
Shall I better install the original chips before I go? ;)
Egil, what do you need a 600HP car with those traffic rules??? :banghead:

    These articles scared me

  • which route?

I need some advice from Norwegian insiders please.
Dave and myself are planning to make the trip via Larvik. The plan is to take the ferry from Hirthals to Larvik Wednesday June 15th at 12:45 so we'll arrive in Larvik late afternoon / early evening.
Now the big question is, which route to go if we want to have the most scenic drive but still can make it to the hotel on Thursday evening. IMO we should avoid ferries since these may cause some heavy delays. Google maps is of no help here to me since a lot of pictures (google road view) were taken in the winter time.
    Any advice is highly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Wolf

  • Wokke: It's not really that bad. The most cops are on the highways between Larvik and Oslo in that district. You shouldn't have any problem going to Stavanger. The limit for licence suspension is 141 km/h (at 141 you loose it,) and 120 is considered normal speed for all drivers in outside lane in 100 km/h zones. Anything over that is not enjoyable on most norwegian roads :p

  • Wolf,
Do you drive from Larvik on Thursday? I and two from Sweden will take the coastal road to Stavanger, we arrive at Sandefjord in 1230

Yes, that's the plan. But we intend to go via the E134 hoping for some nice mountain roads.
