I guess you've all been on edge wondering how I've been getting on with my trans continental trip? Oh well.
Left the UK last Tuesday and to date have covered 1400 trouble free miles in the old 8 series. Managed to average 28.4 mpg on the journey down to Languedoc on the Autoroute at about 56mph with cruise on and a very light foot.
Then went down to Spain to get some cheap fags and booze and have now travelled up to the Dordogne region. MPG has taken a battering and now down to an average of 25.1 in the main due to the never ending series of hills!
Have taken a stack of exciting photos of the E31 and will endeavour to try and upload a few of these before we return on Friday of this week.
All in all the car has been superb. The airbag light has decided to appear but after a day or so of staring at it I have now managed to dismiss it mentally!
If anyone else is planning a long trip to France just keep your foot over the brake pedal as you'll be continually trying to avoid people jumping out and taking photos of the car. Also every French village has poxy speed humps as you enter and leave, which plays havoc with the front spoiler.
Salut mes amis. A bientot...[ Thats French that is]
PS The black roof looks pretty chipper
