A marginally interesting read but not quite what the title suggests. Sorry if the quality is a bit poor.
I find the author's criticism of the 8's rear end quite bizarre as I feel it is one of the 8's greatest attributes.
Cheers

Nice to see the author liked the 840Ci better than the Z4 . I agree with you on the rear, but I've heard that more often. The large tail lights seem to be a like-it-or-not issue. Personally I think the light block design is great. Even though nowadays most tail light lenses have clear parts for the indicators and reversing lights I really like how the BMW designers got rid of the 80s yellow indicators and white reversing lights. Clever. But they are not only nice to look at during daytime. The nighttime appearance is very sleek as well by the low but wide lighted strip. They copied that design over to the E92 3 Series coupé. Very nice...
Btw, the author mistyped the total number of E31 manufactured (the digits are correct, but the order is not).
Thanks Graham
... and for the extended record, the 840 compared was a pretty well cared for specimen, CC66418, on sale late last year for 12k GBP year with 54k mls on the clock.

Nice little article but a slightly strange comparison, as the author said. Chalk and cheese if you ask me!
