Sold for 87,750.00 euros
That's about the same price someone paid 25 years ago.

That's a freakish one off with virtually no miles on it, but's it's a good sign for prices in general. Our patience is very slowly paying off (not that we'll ever sell so it makes no odds, it's just nice to have something worth done money).
Graham, yours is super clean and must be with a few quid.
One just sold here in the US yesterday on ebay. 70,000 mile one owner car. Black/Black. All original with receipts. $40,000. I think it was an excellent price on this side of the pond.
The silver one sold for a uk auction record 27k & commissions & vat about 6 weeks ago . So the vendor really is plucking a figure out of rarified air on that one. However all cars are worth what one person is prepared to pay so who knows ?
They are a super rare car, even more so in the UK. I've only seen 4 for sale in the last 12 months.
Dealer in UK selling a black one with 47k miles (and lots of incorrect details of the model in the ad) on Pistonheads (BMW Csi section) for £59,995. Will be interesting to see if it sells ? Of course we will never know what it actually sells for - or will we ?
Hi all. £40k start! Cripes. I would hazard a guess that it didn't sell. Mind you I've just bought a 1985 Renault 5 with 22000 miles from new and FSH, for way over the odds! There's always one!
ETA It's on Pistonheads at £42k!

That one one has been for sale for a few months.
Very nice ice but I think they will struggle at that price.
It it would be interesting to know what the last few U.K cars actually have sold for.
I know the silver one was 27k & commission at auction then appeared straight back on the market at 43k but was then reduced to below 40k. I sssume it did sell in the end?
Another was advertised on car and classic at 18/19 k with some fettling required. Sold very quickly.
Quite a few LHD cars on the continent but are they really selling?

To the original question on the value of a csi nowadays I have collected the current offers, removed extreme outliers and came to the attached offered price vs km-diagram by means of regression (of logarithmic prices for better fit).
These are offered prices, next question is: How long do I have to wait to get rid of my csi at the above price.
Not my problem, I'll keep mine for the time being.
Best
Peter
Nice one Reiser , have you any overview of the price changes over the last years?
And just as yourself i have no plans to sell mine
Regards
Terje
Reiner, that's quite interesting, thanks.
So, does anyone have their CSI insured for a guaranteed value? If you do I'd be interested to know how much for.
Dave.
This was a very low mileage one in the Uk and has sold

Asking price was £59995.
It did look to be a very nice one
Yes, well done Peter and thanks for doing that.
Do you have any plans to apply the same formula across the 850 and 840 ranges as there seems to be no logic whatsoever in their pricing. Csi's seem to be able to get away with high prices for average and poor condition which just doesn't seem to work with the rest of the family.
Cheers
Graham
I am surprised about the reaction to my little graph ... let me try to reply to your questions:
(a) price increases: "zwischengas.com" (a Swiss internet site on old- and youngtimers) reports a 23% increase in csi-prices asked over the past 12 months. There, you also get further information on prices by condition and price increases for the 840 and 850i/ci.
(b) do I consider extending my "statistics"? If I had available the prices paid, then it might be worth while. But I only have the prices asked, which reflect expectations (or desperation), market testing or even price driving. And I didn't take into account the condition. Furthermore, it is difficult to increase the sample with additional (past) data due to the remarkable price increase in the recent months.
(c) Insurance: From time to time I contact my insurer and we agree on the value of my csi. Actually, I might do this again in 2017. Usually, they send an expert to look at my car and to agree with me on its value. And I may or may not have to pay a few hundred CHF for the expert. If you do not document the current value, then the reaction of the insurer in case of a damage would almost certainly be: Come on, it's 22 years old, it's worth nothing ...
Enjoy the sunny weekend
Peter
Nice Alpina's, they make the car. but I would say that !
