I feel the same as ukzero, now everythings works fine and they look the dogs I'm happy enough.
LEDs in Front Sidelights
-
-
I wasn't saying that the UltraLeds are inferior or anything, was more of a, sigh, further option for anyone still considering this route. I can well imagine how sick of the term LED everyone is now...... I am too but due to delays in US post I am still to finally lay this topic to rest
Watch this topic tumble down the Forum list when I'm done

Yawn, i'm off to bed
-
so, this is the end of the LED thing. For those of you still interested, ahem Steve, then here is the final installment
MATRIX II cluster Bulb.
So much bigger and better than what was in before. extra large LEDs facing front and double the number Radially. Completely white in colour, unlike the previous bulbs which had a slight blue hue to them. A PERFECT MATCH for the new HID lights in colour and brightness.
I'm stopping with this now, although there is still scope for experimentation.

guys are the resistors needed?
-
It's looking good Tony - unfortunately your links wouldn't work here - am I right in thinking that you've now fitted the Matrix II clusters?
Cheers -
Hi, yes these need resistors, but it's not too tricky. And yes they are the Matrix II bulbs. Very bright indeed.

Ok here we go again , do they make a lot of difference
What bulbs did you use and did they need any mods etcCheers

knew this would raise a smile or two...
These are also the Matrix II bulbs, like the ones in front, but the 1156 type with the single contact and non-offset pins. They are super bright
Had to shave 2mm off the plastic bulb holders because of the 'shoulder' on the bulb cluster, but after that they twist and lock into place. I milled the excess off cos I was bored and tried to emulate other people's fastidiousnous (is that a word??)
So far I've had no OBC error messages, despite me drivng in reverse all the way home

Ideal, I've ordered them, what was their delivery time like

side lights
Hi TallTony,
I am sorry to bother you again with the side light story again. I would appreciate very much if you could answer these few questions :
-do 1156 and 1157 bulbs fit our car ?
-does the 1156 always come in 48W and the 1157 always in 32W ?
-did you use the 1156, 1157, 48W, 32W ?
-did you have to modify the Matrix II bulbs or did they fit right in ?
-what do you mean by "they need resistors but it is not too tricky"?Thanks a lot in advance for your answer. I am thinking about buying them for my car and I would like to make sure I know what I am getting into first. It looks great on your car.
Best regards
Michael

Wayne, the delivery was about a week, but they come well packaged. Glad to see I've finally persuaded you
Michel, I've PM'd you
-
Tony could I ask a similar question as Michael's, what bulbs were the one's to go for and did they require modifying or resistors?
Thanks
Stuart

Hi Earl,
Matrix II (type 1157 WHITE) bulbs for front sidelights, Matrix II (type 1156 White) bulbs for reversing lights.
I've PM'd you more in depth details about their installation
-
I seem to be getting a steady flow of interest about these Matrix II bulbs, which is good. Just want to say that it was UKzero and NOT me who originally came up with idea for LEDs (on here anyway). Just wanted to clear that up
However, if you are still undecided and want further confirmation of what can be acheived....... my eyes, my eyes, my eyes.......
-
They are bright but I'm happy with the one's I've fitted, now just waiting for the reversing lights
-
Cheers Tony I got the PM thanks
-
duplicate post. doh
-
'tis the season for resurrecting old threads and low and behold my new LED bulbs turn up this morning
the latest one is on right in all three pics, which show the evolution of my efforts......
solder a connector across the contacts to turn on Bright Setting permanently
and twist straight in.... no modifications needed, joy of joys
and finally, in broad bright morning sunshine......
Pah chow........
more side LEDs than the Matrix II, and these use the reflectors much better.
Now, do I get the ones for the rear clusters or not............ ???
